Our friends running a meet and greet service at the new Gloucester South services this morning. Perhaps they were attracted there by all the new clean smell free concrete to crawl around on.
How nice ,was it like where you leave your car to be valeted when shopping.
Was that N/b or S/b?
Thats the new S/b judging by all the fresh dirt.
They got me sweating when i went passed a parked up DVSA 4x4 on the hard shoulder and he pulled out behind me. I thought bollox, the thing was out into the second lane as i was catching up on a Discovery pulling a trailer with a car on it so i went to pull out and they floored it. Got in front then wedged infront of the Discovery and turned the ‘pull in’ sign on. As he took the 4x4 into Gloucester services s/b he looked over and waved at me. He knew full well he just ruined my chilling and got my heart going for 30 seconds.

Hmmmmm… maybe all those ■■■■■■■ up the wheels and ■■■■■■■■ under the trailer actually have a point… it discourages DVSA from using the services as checkpoints.

Wrong number plate? Lights or indicators not working? Bold tyres?
The list goes on…

Every time iv been pulled by these lot iv never had a problem with them…
Even when I had a few discrepancys on my tachos.
But I just bite my tongue and be nice and friendly and it seems to go a long way.
Blokes who get pulled and start ranting get the backs up of the officers straight away and more likely leave with a fine.
I wonder what the service owners think of them using it like that?
Do they get a say? It’s private land, so I guess they must have agreed to it.
I wouldn’t want that going on in my brand new shiny car park.
Scaring the customers so they carry on to Michaelwood instead.

they could say all they want but it wouldn’t stop them from setting up a check point
Never had a problem with them, never even been pulled although I have called in voluntarily to have them look over a load that our drivers have been complaining about for months. Do the job right and don’t act like a ■■■■ and you’ve nothing to worry about.

But it’s private land… Would you let them set up a checkpoint in your back garden?

Probably a clause in the planning application acceptance.
They were regularly stopping wagons at Prees Heath on the A41/A49, on the council park opposite the Midway Cafe, also affecting trade at the Raven Cafe. Both owners complained about them, as drivers weren’t stopping because of the time loss incurred.
