You have 2 Medlers haulage in that area, commonly known as Green Medlers and Red Medlers, being Norfolk they are related along with every other business in the area with Medlers in the name.

I’ve subbyed to both firms, and both seem ok, don’t know a lot about pay, but I should imagine they are pretty similar to most of the area, that is lower than the national average, which why I know people who live in Cromer and work out of Felixstowe.

Red Medlers are pretty much flat work, bricks, steel, timber. The guy that ran it always seemed pretty relaxed, but on the ball.

Green Medlers are mainly curtainsiders, they have a transport manager called Phil Daniels. You either like working for him or hate him. I liked working for him, He keeps the trucks moving and very much maxed hours, minimum breaks, but if you said you wanted a Friday finish on a Monday you’d be finished on a Friday. If you have a problem at a delivery or collection, you phoned him with a name and a number and he’d normally have it sorted.

Normal jobs were Impress at Norwich or Ceva at Mendlesham, lots out of British Gypsum. Much more a trampers job a reload could send you any direction if you we’re staying out all week.

Most companies in the area quite small and seem to do a fair mixture of work, obviously a lot of agricultural work bit of curtainsiders or flats or whatever they can get.

In North Washam you have Starlings, Durys, RBR, TC Transport, Saxon Motors. But really you mates best bet is to look in yellow pages and then drives round, especially the farms and stuff as there always seem to be places with 4 or 5 trucks parked in at a weekend.

Cheers mate. i think its the Green ones he is interested in. do alot of spud boxes etc. got a rather nice 60 plate daf ssc iirc.

They do seem to have been buying quite a few tidy motors in the last few years, they gave me my first go at driving trucks as a relief driver, driving things like F7s and FL7s but its a very different company these days. Can’t help a lot with house prices, the impression I get is that like most rural area prices out strip local pay as people move in from other areas to retire, especially in the villages and Aylsham, but North Walsham is a bit cheaper not quite the quaint little market town that Aylsham is.
