can someone please confirm the medical requirements, is it every 5 years? if so, do you get a letter stating you’re due a medical?
I believe it’s every 5 yrs from when you reach 45 yrs of age, dvla will send you a licence renewal form just before and that’s when you have to have your medical and the Doc will fill out part of that for you.

Essentially correct although one issue is the fact that they’re valid for 5 years automatically so if your first one was issued when you were over 40 ie 42 years old your next one will be at 47 not 45.

Didn’t know that but I passed my test at 22 so that’ll be why I had to renew at 45 then, right got it now.
