I’ll ask my mate, he used to work for them but has since moved onto what he calls a better job doing supermarkets  I’ll get back to ya

Was talking to a lad in Chesterfield last week, he said it was ok and he seemed alright, he was class one though.

Are you still at mcdowells Jonny?

Cheers for the replies. And yes im still at mcdowells. But not for much longer. Long storu short i wont ever put a load before my safety/life!

Cheers

Viamaster at Whitwood had banner outside when I passed couple of weeks ago, advertising for drivers. Got speaking to one of their drivers last year, and he was telling me they gave him a job on Class 1 with no experience, so sure you’d be in with a shout on class 2.

No idea what job or pay is like though

The tackle is light years ahead of mcdowells ministry magnets johnny  ,was talking to 2 of their drivers in the waiting room at lex commercials at carcroft a few month ago, they were dropping 2 units off for service satdy morning and a bloke from their yard came to pick them up and call in for parts ,all 3 were bang on down to earth friendly blokes who seemed very happy with the job, cant be that bad because not one of them moaned and you know what drivers are like for moaning, descent uniform aswell

The class one boys drop turf and bagged soils and bark into us. They have either been there forever or have been there 5 minutes, they rarely seem unhappy when I talk to them. They are generally a mix of agency and full timers. Their units range from 08 DAF XF’s all the way up to brand spankers.

I have only ever seen one Rigid out and about, it was a DAF CF 61 plate 18t. I asked one of the class one boys and he said the class 2 don’t do nights out. Which would make sense that I don’t see them down my way that often.

Cheers for that Seth, yeah seems a decent crowd to work for. Rarely see them advertising so always a good sign when you rarely see em. Was a bit surprised when i got an interview as they had asked for 2 years experience and to be over 25! So lucky i got a chance

And f reds im not fussed about nighting out i can take it or leave it, if the moneys right then no need to fuss about getting to sleep in my own bed! I’ll be taking my class 1 in june/july so hopefully can get bumped up when theres an opening or what have you. Just so long as im away from london im happy :smiling_imp:

I dont know about the 25 bit m8,one of the drivers was only abit of a kid and he was driving a superspace new shape daf with all the toys ,i reckon if your keen then you have a chance

From what a friend has told me class 2 is all palletways local work, he wasn’t overly impressed but it’s different strokes for different folks at the end of the day

Let us know how you get on Jonny.
