They employ a heck of a lot of staff that pay tax and NI. if we don’t use them, then the staff don’t get paid and therefore don’t pay tax.
If the British government reduced corporation tax to a decent level, Then maybe we would get more foreign investment, and also foreign companies will register here and pay tax here, rather than operating here and paying tax elsewhere.

It narrows down their car purchase this year should they need to buy one.

Sounds legit

I remember the " Im backing Britain campaign of the 1970s.As with a lot of British things ,it didnt last long.

Buying British should not be such an amazing thing to do that it makes front page news, should be first choice…if possible.

I think they’re about 35 years too late for that and as I remember it the Mail was all for Maggie’s idea of closing down our own manufacturing industry in favour of a banking and service industry based economy and importing what we need using printed or borrowed money. :unamused:

Probably about as long as Shore’s Labour Party leadership attempt. :bulb:

I doubt much of the stuff that is labelled British is entirely produced in Britain. How many components are made abroad and then assembled in the UK? Likewise food, how much is grown overseas, processed in UK and labelled British?

I also have a recollection that the beauroprats in Brussels wanted all goods to be labelled as EU products and not mention the state in which they were manufactured but that could easily have been just a bad dream.

I wonder what make their computer is? Do we make any in UK?
