May old acquaintance……......................Happy New year?

I know I’m going to regret this post but what the hell. I have posted the identical posting on both TrucknetUK and the PDA.

It would seem that there has been a falling out between a couple of very respected members of both the forums that has spilt out onto the respective sites. Now although I do not personally know the two ‘culprits’ for want of a better word I know that I respect the opinion of each and I know that they both have a very detailed knowledge, indeed passion of the industry. How regretful it is that this cannot be sorted out man to man so to speak.

Which brings me to the reason I have posted this posting.

We all just log onto the sites and expect them to be there for us. ‘the driver’ without, I feel, knowing or realising the enormous amount of time and money that each site has cost. The endless hours the ‘moderators’, ‘admin’, ‘news team’ and all the other unpaid folk that go to make both forums the most informative, amusing and entertaining sites for UK HGV Drivers this side of cyberspace.

I’ve been involved so some greater or lesser amount with both sites over the years and each time I log on I ensure that I open a browser to each site. If something takes my interest I read it and if I feel the need, post a reply. If nothing catches my fancy I log off. But when I see childish bickering on either site I hang my head in shame and think ‘the British public are right, HGV drivers are a bunch of self centred tossers’ YET I KNOW THEY ARE NOT.

Can we let 2004 be the year that the dreams of the founder members and keystones of both sites ( Pat and Rikki), both trusted personal friends, come true and both sites flourish and make the British Road haulage ‘driver’ a sensible force to be reasoned with ?

Happy New Year.

Thoughts?
