May Day hols

Could someone tell me whether there is a driving ban in France this comming Monday - 1st?

I would appreciate your help,

Paul

Erm, cough errr, psst Monday is the 2nd not the 1st.

No driving ban on Monday in France, because May Day falls on a Sunday this year they miss out on a days holiday. It is however a holiday on Thursday the 5th (Ascension Day) in; Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Luxembourg, Norway. Sweden and Switzerland. There will be driving bans in those countries that have them on Public Holidays.

That’s not all this month, Monday the 16th (Whit Monday) is a holiday in; Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Switzerland.

Thursday the 26th (Corpus Christi) is a holiday in; Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Switzerland.

Again driving bans will be in place on those days in the countries that have them. However the exception is Whit Monday in France where there will be no driving restrictions as it is no longer a Public Sector Holiday.

Received the monthly FTA Digest yesterday and according to that, there is now NO driving ban on Whit Monday (16th May)
Apparently, from now on, it will be a ‘Day of Solidarity’ and not a public holiday.

Are these public holidays coffeholic or just driving bans, according my info only Austria has public holiday on 26th May ?

Ahh well spotted Jed. It seems something went wrong with the cutting and pasting in the original post.

Thursday the 26th is a holiday in Austria and a partial holiday in Germany. So no driving in Austria and no driving in those regions of Germany that are on holiday. Bavaria, Baden Wurttembourg, Saarland, Rhineland-Pfalz and Nordrhein-Westfalen.
