Roadworks have been prepared ready to start the works but the cones and speed (30mph) limits etc are off the (duel) carriageway and there are no workmen around.
Maximum speed?

I’m guessing…
You are referring to the Sleaford by-pass.
Yes, the entire length westbound to the Holdingham roundabout is 50mph and then drops to 30mph. It is utterly pointless but, I can assure you that sooner or later the scamera van will appear to hand out tickets like conffeti at a wedding.
If you’re ever gonna get a speeding ticket, you’ll probably get it in Lincolnshire.
It’s just a general question.
Flat to the matt. What else do you suggest?

Are you asking
“Do those 30mph signs apply to the open dual-carriageway, or, to works vehicles on the closed off roadworks?”

They weren’t when I went through them a few hours ago coming back from Spalding, they’re placed on the left verge and central reservation. Speed limit is 50 then 30 whether workmen are there or not. 30 limit is because the lanes narrow at the roundabout.

Very observant , was it you the other night who passed me at 19.15 just before southwaite services , if so it’s 50 mph through the rosdworks not the limiter , my eyesight is far from the best but I managed to observe the temporary speed limit , what your excuse not too!!!

Why is tehre a 50 for the entire dual c/way BEFORE the roadworks then?? Supposed to last until DECEMBER, 10 months. F me, they could’ve nuked the entire roundabout and then rebuild it from the ashes, probably in a couple months time. Actually that’s true for any repair/improvement scheme. Instead we’re stuck for many many months or sometimes YEARS (M1 j13-15, anyone??) with slow inefficient work that ends up costing more than my proposal of nuke&rebuild while diverting traffic via other A/B roads (i’m joking about the nuking of course but seriously some things take FOREVER in this country)…
