max length

whats the max length of a ridged + trailer in the uk? keep getting different answers  height would help as well

I think for a wagon n drag it’s 18.5m and for an artic 16.5m but not sure where ingot that info from.

As for height then anything over 16.5 ft isn’t marked so you wouldn’t really want to be any taller.

I would say that a modern car transporter pretty much maxes out the dimensions you would want to running with.

As for height, there is no limit but you won’t get under any bridges if you go over 16 feet

16"6 i thought??

16"6 i thought??

most bridges are that height, I was just allowing a margin

16" 3 vosa told me

so were does the max 85 foot if you reg as a locomotive fit in

Bridges over 16’ 3" are not marked, motorway bridges are supposed to be 16’ 6" but there are a few where they are less than that over the hard shoulder, every car transporter firm I have worked at set a max running height of 16 foot.

Trees are the biggest headache, not many local authorities trim them to keep a 16 foot clearance and summer greenery can take the clearance down quite a bit, running through a few twigs might not sound serious but it sure as heck can do a chunk of damage to bodies and loads and damage to following vehicles should you whack a tree limb down can be an insurance nightmare.

Max length for wag and drag is 18.75m, and only bridges with headroom of 16’ 6’’ and less are marked.
