I have a toll collect card and used it the other week with problems so looking for advice.
i managed to complete all the details of my intended journey with no problems, when i came to pay i could not pay using my toll collect card which i have been told i can pay with. The option to pay with this was greyed out.
I did use the small machine and not one of the big machines could this be the reason why??
no, your toll collect card has to be linked to a guarenteed payment source, international fuel card etc.
if your card does not display that it has the payment facility on it then you will not be able to use it to pay for the journeys.
you need to choose fuel card or credit card as a payment method before plotting the route.
it’s been a while since i used mine but you can also pay cash at some machines as long as the shop or kiosk is open at the time.
you should be prompted for a payment method before you proceed with the journey route.
visit the toll collect website for more information.
I use a Toll-Collect card all the time, with the payment facility built in.
The machines can be a little slow to say the least, up to 5 minutes on occaision to read my card.
When asked to insert your card, wait a few seconds and then insert it slowly. You will often hear a slight click as it goes home. Also watch the small screen above the key pad. It will say “Bitte Warten” then “Carte Entnemen”, “please wait” and “withdraw card”.
Whatever you do, DO NOT press the “CONTINUE” button.
Wait until the machine tells you to withdraw your card.
If you get sick of waiting and feel that you have to do something, remove your card and press the “ABORT”. Then start again.
It will then give you the options for the number of axles.
The next screen is for your start time.
Then you get the start, end and via point screens, followed by the summary of everything you have entered and what is on your card.
The final series of screens are the payment options.
If the Toll Collect card option is greyed out, your card doesn’t have payment details on it.
You should also have a 4 figure PIN number to authorise the payment.
Try this link, to get into the MAUT/Toll Collect web site.
i have the pin no the office gave it to me and told me i can pay usin it, however it did not work… i put my card in at the begining as it asks and left it in the machine during the whole process
take a look here ,read through slowly and look at the flash vidio
also do a print out of any points thatYOU belive will help you understand it better, rome was not built in a day.so just do it all at a speed which you are happy with,
card in , pin nr ,card out
a lot of mistakes are that drivers try to tip in there destination instead of the last motorway exit before there destination

Wheel Nut:
I need instructions for my box of tricks.
My new truck has a maut box fitted and there are more buttons than my radio cd player. Do I press them all?
Going to have to use it this weekend.
At the moment it is just displaying 5 axles and TC Toll Free
you don’t do anything malc,
just drive the truck and it will automatically switch modes when you enter the toll charge areas, as you go through the border - give it 30 seconds and bingo - it will automatically display the cost up to the next junction, then as you pass that junction the cost will move to the spent side and a new cost will be displayed to the next junction.
one more thing, with the maut machines a motorway junction number is not recognised, the onboard unit will display the junction number of the next junction along, strange that.

Cheers Johnny. I have just found an instruction book written in about 18 languages and will have a look tomorrow.
When I start the truck it seems to go through a test sequence then asks how many axles the truck has, but it seems to settle on 5 when I set off.
I presume TC Toll Free means Toll Collect and that I am out of range of the overhead gantrys
Malc, it will have been set to a default number of axles which is why when you ignore it, it settles on 5. They only time you would need to press a button would be if you were running solo and needed to change it to 2 or 3 axles. The only other one you might consider is during start up when it asks if it is a new route, if you select OK then it will zero the accumulated charge figure and start counting just that trip. Only really useful if you wanted to know how much it costs per trip.

Thanks Neil, I will have a study of the book tomorrow
Spacemonkeypg, do you have to enter all of your vehicle data, eg country plate, registration etc? If so, the machine isn’t reading your card, so isn’t getting the payment details off it. That will be why the Toll-Collect card option is greyed out.
If it’s reading your card ok, then you don’t have payment through your Toll-Collect card. Possibly because it hasn’t been set-up properly, especially if your boss has been given a PIN number. It should be the same PIN number for all the vehicle cards in the fleet. (Its an account PIN, not a card PIN).
PS. To get to the part of the Toll-Collect site posted by Pete, if you don’t read German. You will need to go to the Home page and click on the “English” button at the top of that page. Then hover your pointer on the tab titled “Truck Toll System”. You’ll get a drop down menu, click on “Manual Log On”. The video is just above the start of the next section about Internet log ons. Its a flash player application, theres a link to the Macromedia Flash Player download page there as well.

i used to work for the same company and all the vehicle details are already loged into the card, although it does take a moment or two to process which can make you think there is a problem.i found the system ok to work as long as there is`nt a big queue of drivers
jon
best thing to do.
give up driving for anyone thats doing germany although i always liked germany.
i was there in the first weks of the maut.
i got one of the maut book/maps.
a great book to have,but.
i cant understand.
germany,efficient germany.
why did they toll the roads in such a way,
why did they not put peage in like any other country.
if you have a delivery and are not sure of you autobahn exit,
you have probs.
pay for an exit before your required,if caught, pay a fine.
i wonder is this a money making scheme on behalf of the germans.
they get tolls for the roads and fines for the mistakes.
i thought the french were bad for fines although i never did pay one.[a white lie]
belive it or not this is the cheapest solution ,because the roads in
Germanyare not built to take the toll stations unlike france, italy etc
the best solution for any one who is doing germany and wish to be
efficent in that with a OBU unit fitted you can automaticly turn off the
motorway when road is blocked due to accidents or traffic-jams,
GET a OBU unit fitted; OR take the time to read the english site and
also look at the training vidieo,or get your firm to use the internet
service so that they do all the booking of the routes after talking to
you,WHAT you should also think about is that some time in the next
five years all EU countrys will be introduceing TOLL SYSTEM and
it looks like the GERMAN system is the best one at present .
The Austrian system will soon be out-of-date,and i belive that
the EU will not take the SWISS system ,
