Maut Sensors and MOT Regulations

Like coffeholic I had my maut system fitted at the same time, and yes MAN do fall to bits easier
I have been in discusion with the department of Transport regarding the position of the infra red sensor, Toll collect insist it should be mounted in the middle section of the windscreen, this means it fall’s within the line of view and can be construed as an infringement to the Annual roadworthiness test. MOT.
As a solution to this problem the department for transport has issued a tempary solution by informing all MOT testing staions that vehicles fitted with the German maut sensor “will not fail roadwortiness tests because of the sensor being fitted to the windscreen” they are looking into this problem and will inform people once a solution is forthcoming.

I also mention’d the Austrian Go box and other sensors I.E. Italien, Swiss, dart tag and was informed that these should be removed for an MOT and only the maut sensor would be allowed in the windscreen.

That’s good news at least and the other boxes are renoved far easier than the MAUT one. Wonder if the position regarding the MAUT sensor has anything to do with the fact the UK may adopt the system?

It seems a bit like double standards though, doesn’t it?

Either you can have obstructions in your windscreen or you can’t!!

Just need all the other 19 nations going over to the same system and you get zero vision …good ere innit… probably all down to the different driving systems ie left and right hand drive.
