I have a German Maut box fitted and it now says “Operating Data Invalid” and gives a warning beep.
I assume and hope that this will update next time I go to Germany.
Can anyone answer this?
Is there any way of turning off the infernal beep when I start the truck as I always think I have a truck computer fault till I remember about the Maut box error !
i had that happen to me about a month ago thought i was gonna have to stop and buy tickets to run in the fatherland but when i got to the shell garage at
tienbaan
i had one last play with the menu and the red light changed to green on the thingy (dont remember what i did) but i did reset it to a new trip (clearded the euro counter) and all was ok and still is
sorry if that was as clear as mud
but it worked for me !!!
it happend to my last truck if you have not been in or around germany for some time it does this, but after it locks back onto the maut system it seems to be happy

Coincidence that you were pushing buttons when light changed. It was simply the fact you were close enough to pick up the update at the time. The prices went up a month or so ago which is likely the reason for you both getting the message, it needs to download the new cents per kilometre rate
Invalid Operating Data is a common message on mine and I even posted a question on here about it.
Mine is probably a weak antenna but as it keeps bursting into action as I approach Germany I now use the warning bleep to warn me Im going to somewhere primitive like Wales

i find whenever i have operating data invalid appear on the maut box in my truck whenever i go to our chip factory in venlo the box re-sets itself and i get the green light, saying this when i went through the border at venlo the other week the box didnt start counting till i got to junction 5.

We do a job in Herrath close to Monchengladbach and the maut seems to get confused as to where you are. You pass a sensor wherever you approach it from but as you turn off the motorway it keeps charging you till you get to the factory. When you come back it cant find a signal and we end up getting a free ride. One of our Belgians pointed this out to BAG and they said they understood the problem. They made a note of it and let him go with no fine.
I went to Bratislava, Slovakia this week and the German Maut box updated at a motorway rest area in Belgium without any problem.
Getting to Bratislava WAS a problem. Motorway said 3.5m bridge on most direct route from Vienna. Followed diversion signs and next 2 exits were weight restrictions but sign still saying Bratislava on motorway. Got to where they were building the unfinished motorway to Bratislava. Aggrrrr what now…next exit was Hungarian border so ended up going to Bratislava via Hungary… Ah well one of life’s experiences.
Now have a NEW box for Austria in the windscreen that beeps at every gantry. It was easy to cure though with a bit of tape.
I wonder how many Toll boxes I can get into my screen?
Got 4 at moment, Geman Maut, Austria Toll, French Toll, Dartford Toll.
EDIT:
Oooh a stone chip in windscreen says I am going to have to re-stick all them boxes soon apart from the Maut…SIGH !!!
if the austria one beeps 4 times like mine did this week.that means theres no credit on it.i found this out the hard way.
went from brenner to bregenz and heard all the beeping.got a pull just before the german border by the maut police.
they explained all about these boxes.
1 beep ok 2 beeps credit getting low,not sure about 3,but 4 no credit.
the fine is 70 euros…
all done in 10 minutes,i took another 5 and made another unwanted tacho break out of it.

i had that, went through the little bit of austria near the swiss border at st margeretting, my box beeped 4 times just coming into the tunnel, no room at the border to stop and sort it so when i stopped for my 9 hour at an autohof, i got the box checked, and assured by the woman that it was fine, and sure enough when i got back into austria it worked ok, then coming into austria from italy the other week (the first return since that), i got pulled and fined about 230 euros or something close as i had not got the box sorted withing 70 kilometres or 7 hours of the problem!!! paid on my fuel card, explained that i got the box checked and it was fine, and was given the phone number to phone and appeal, but forgot to phone it
I just wish I had a Maut box in the first place, then I can avoid those occasions where you have dozens of horrified people looking at the silly Englishmen as he drives though their incredibly tight and picturesque town centure and stuggles under a 4,00m arched bridge to find a petrol station with a maut terminal because as per usual there is absolutely nothing between the motorway junction and the loading point…oh the joys of trucking in Germany the low tech way!
and for the vingette this onehttp://www.toll-collect.de
both sites can be changed into english and if you go
through the index it will give you all the information
you require as regards the maut and whereto buy it
and also where you can get the vingette in those
countrys where it is sold…
