Why do the people that put up matrix board signs not seem to have a clue about the UK road infrastructure?
Yesterday there was a closure of the A23 through the roadworks. The first sign you encountered was between J8 & J7 of the M25. This meant there was nothing you could do to avoid the works. Why couldn’t they put the signs up between 10 & 9 so drivers heading south could use the A24 through Dorking instead? The official diversion only puts them on the same road anyway.
The other thing that irks me is when there’s signs warning of weekend closures in advance (I’m not moaning about the advance warning) but the need to accompany it with the flashing corner lights. Surely its just being used for information so why have the warning lights. If its a message displayed for a week, when they do change it to warn of an incident/obstruction the familiarity of the sign flashing may lead to some not realising the information is different to that which has been displayed all week.
