Mates think i'm mad

All my mates think i must be mad as I’ve just packed in a job with a major supermarket paying 10.10p per hour for all hours worked. This did include every Saturday and every bank holiday,50 mile round trip to work, :cry: 4 day 45 hour week. :smiley: Have started with local firm 5 min walk from home, 7.90p per hour for 45 hours then time and a half after that. Monday to Friday with Saturday at double time if you want it. Bank holidays at 1.1/2 plus day off. 5 weeks holiday +bank holidays. Average hours 55. Plenty scope for POAs. 1 hit drops into RDCs, back empty. Tell me oh wise ones…AM I mad? :angry: :angry:

Are you going to be happier??

There’s your answer!! :wink:

Hmm, I can guess who the supermarket is. The thing is, I bet the days don’t seem so long with the short walk home rather than the massive commute :wink:. Good luck with the new job. As SmCaul says, whatever floats your boat :wink:.

THIS is my reply can you live with the wages from the new job,are you
more satisfied with the new job, has it improved your overall life
more to thepoint are is the new jobstill what YOU WANT;

ANSWER :: YES; THEN; ENJOY YOURSELF AS JOB SATISFACTION

IS WHAT COUNTS;

i think it sounds like a lot better job and if your happy… mates are mates there is always one better off than you and someone else always have to put you down… i personally think its a good job.

i used to work in southampton at ap shipyard. i thought that there would be plenty of work down there out of the docks.

I agree with Marcustandy.

Money can never buy happiness or peace of mind…

Good luck Zuluwarrior, when you think about the amount of time you spend at work, job satisfaction has to take a high priority, and as long as you can live reasonably well within your expectations on the money, go for it. :laughing:

Jess’s Dad, good for you too! being your own boss has a lot going for it!

It’s always flat for the Deep Sea boxes this time of year…it’ll pick up after Easter. :wink:

And, yes, £7.50 is very good for Southampton!!!

i left a well paid easy job at the co-op… home every day, only four shifts a week, easy peasy unbeleivably easy work…
to go tramping for less per hour… considerably less per hour in fact :open_mouth:
four or five nights out per week :open_mouth:
And i`d do it again too! you have to be happy in what you do… were only here once… make the most of it

i done over five years with a supermarket company. then i heard about a possible job with the company im at now, so i thought i would go along for an interview just to test the water.
anyhow the job sounded good but due the nature of the job it meant i had to be a bit more flexible than a supermarket driver (ie occasion nights, varying start times(sometimes) and the chance to work out of other depots if needed( and only if you voluntereed))
all my supermarket buddies said it would be the worse move i ever made, the grass is greener , etc,etc.
but i left anyhow. best thing i have ever done.
ok maybe im lucky, but at the end of the day if you fancy a change then change,
and dont listen to here say, rumours etc.
the only way to find out if a job really suits you is to try it.

ps. good luck with the new job :wink:

im Scottish so not having money creates unhappiness. and stress. its cost me a holiday so far :open_mouth:

I should have added that Money can buy something which will give you happiness, and having lots of money will probably bring peace of mind.

You just can’t buy them :confused:

Better to be happy with mop and bucket, than sad in shiny Scania trunking up and down same motorways. (thats what my boss says anyway) :exclamation:

I have to say that having only had my class 1 since sept last year and class 2 just over a year that I’ve landed a very nice little job on Rugby’s tankers compared to the crap I got on the agency.
Even better when it’s just a 500yd walk to work so that alone saves me the £60 a week loss with the WTD not having to pay for petrol :sunglasses:

Must be great to have a short walk or drive to work, less expenses, if it suits you then thats great.

good luck to all who find greener pastures.
