Their trucks and kit looking nice, anyone got anything to say about them, good firm to work for■■? Mason Bros (Boston) lincs.
I worked for them for 2.5 years.
If you get on with your job and dont whinge, don
t take anything to heart and are not a prima donna, then it will be OK.
If you are a bit of a knob, think you are special and make demands, then it is not the place for you.
Good old fashioned firm with a good work ethic, some of the other drivers are a bit precious, but you don`t need to be in contact with them.
I left because they wanted me to do more than 2 days a week…Plus I was bored with the egos`.
Not the worst firm in the country…
Not the best. The kit is up together but there are some older motors on the fleet too. They collect from Belgium so, if you’re interested in going over there with a potato bulker you might be able to do that. Most of the trampers are out all week especially in the spud harvest season. There is day work to Morrisons RDCs and potato packing factories with spuds/onions in boxes on curtainsiders, farm collections (you will be going down some really tight lanes) and local work. It’ll help if you know how to unbutton every type of curtainsider going, they’ve got all types. They also do vegetables in containers from Felixstowe into the yard or onward to customers.
The money is a little better than most in Lincs.
If you like shiny wheels, really REALLY early starts and enjoy getting very muddy and polishing things…give 'em a call.
Think they were in trouble with vosa, probably not now, but were on the list of their favourites to pull over. Did my cpc at silk willoughby and they were on about them.

Yep, around then for me too.
They had 97 charges dropped by VOSA…
I believe six drivers eventually paid large fines for drivers hours offences.
The O licence was curtailed by 4 trucks.
Management were completely oblivious to the offences apparently.
In my time there I was not asked to do anything dodgy, they were red hot on clocking in and out as well as manual entries. If you couldn’t get round (and it was planned well enough that you could) you just rang them and got turned round to base or what ever.

Just checked out their site, they look very enticing actually, good heads up thanks. Any idea what they pay their drivers? Can’t be too bad as they say on their site they have people who leave them after 40 years loyal service…
