Just got offered a position with marstons as a trunker driver subject to successful assessment and was wondering if anyone on here works or has worked for them in the past and can give me any pointers as not done brewery transport before, cheers
Not done trunk work but the Marston guy that delivers to us seems happy enough. Usually pallets of kegs 6x 3 high all wrapped up. Will be dropping and picking up from various breweries and wholesalers. Including fullers at chiswick probably.
How any of this helps
Well if I lived down that way I would be applying for a job there,
Decent kit and clean work,
Hear the pay ain’t bad either
Good clean work and good well maintained tackle and a well run job by all accounts they take a lot of pride in running there own transport and distribution they seem to have expanded a lot recently and move a lot of beer for other brewery’s too along with there own products a lot of there drivers have been there years and it’s a job with a reasonable wage and good benefits. I applied for a job there a few years back whilst on agency for another brewery contract in Burton but unfortunately didn’t get it as they took a agency driver on who had been with them for a long period of the time but if my current circumstances changed I’d reapply again .
Regards carrying beer and kegs/ firkins treat it with respect and steady away is your friend and be steady and gentle on the brakes as it’s quite easy to shoot a load depending what your carrying
Are they taking on? Local to me and always been of interest to me do e beer work before so nothing new to me.
Worked on agency there for 2 weeks on the same run…
Burton - Doncaster - Burton - Wolverhampton
Was one of the easiest 10 hour shifts I’ve done.
Let us know if you get the job as I did this about 18 months ago
All the best
