just my opinion, try hanbury , i will next time, fleet ex etc have too many kms on them for my likeing, i have found that you start to spend at about 600 t0 700 thou km, thats about the average km of ex fleet trucks now loer km will be better in the long run

Harry, they are 440BHp at Fleetex compared to 460BHp at Maritime, and the ones at Fleetex are a little rough around the edges
Yes, but thatās a huge price difference for minimal extra value added. Over Ā£15,000 more and only six months newer. A rough truck can be tidied up, itās more about elbow grease than spending money, and to be perfectly honest if you put me into two trucks blindfolded, I couldnāt tell which one had 20bhp more. 440bhp is enough for most of the UK, if I was pulling full loads of fruit up and down Spanish mountains I would want more but for trips along the M4 it doesnāt make much difference.

Good points, Hanbury is where my ex boss used to buy from. I think an ex container fleet truck is what I need.
In a way i agree with you, i used to do spain with onions in a p cab 112 280 bhp, we all get there in the end, i just find that the bills at the end of the month that i struggle to pay are the ones for maintance every time, r and m maybe the way to go, but for me is too expensive, so get as near to new as poss if you can, but not new, i have had every make out there but i stick to my first choice fh12 now and second scania 124 thats it.You need a good dealer behind you for service advice and parts, the swedes have it.
lee mat:
what would be the best way to purchase something like that and what kind of monthly figure would you be looking at
Surely the best way is to put a 30k truck with circa 300k over a minimum of 4 years, thus not loading your monthly payments to hard. no smiley for unsure so, unsure.
Over the yrs i have found a thousand a month repayment to be managable over three yrs, deposits well people vary with this plan, sopme say put as much down as poss, me i like to put as little down as poss to hold some back just in caseā¦Three yrs dont seem to long, four you forgot why you bought it⦠five seems a lifetime⦠i have done them allā¦
there are some good deals out there at the minute, if i was looking i would wait 3 to 4 months and let this lez hype/panic die down a bit, what you possibly may need to remeber is that you may have say 1000 pounds to repay, but then unexpectedly also get a repair b ill in for another grand, last week, a four day week, i bought 4 tyres, a throttle pedal for 450 and misc trailer parts for about another grand, thats why i say get as new as poss. I have often wondered how much say an iveco strallis would cost with 5 yrs finance and 5 yrs r an m, but even that doesnt cover you for accident damage. half of our repairs are drivers accident damageā¦

I would keep the trucks you have and get some new drivers, itāll be cheaper!
