Thinking new year, new change. Both Maritime and Goldstar are looking for drivers out of Southampton atm and was wondering if anyone had any feedback from either one or vs the other one? doesn’t have to be Southampton based necessarily.
I have worked for neither but I have a mate who left maritime to go to gold star and he is money orientated having said that he has now left goldstar to work some where else but still on boxes
Something to bear in mind is that Maritime don’t just do boxes in Soton, they also do Tesco’s out of Nursling. Oh and you’ll likely be cab hopping for longer than they’d actually care to tell you.

The cab hopping that seems endemic at Maritime would ■■■■ me right off. Do Goldstar operate the same way?
Read you do have some hopping when you start but that they give you a little extra for the hassle, not sure how much of either.
That’s not correct. As a new starter you get absolutely no extra for the hassle. Only the old drivers (as in been there years) get extra as it’s written into their agreement. Hence if you ever eventually got your own truck and theirs is off the road, you lose it to them so Maritime don’t have to pay.
I did some work for Goldstar a couple of years ago on a casual basis and they were paying £100 +£10 (meal allowance) per day after stoppages which at the time was more than their full timers cleared per day. Since lost touch with the Goldstar blokes but I know for some reason they’ve had quite a few leave…why, I don’t know.

I was talking too a maratime driver delivering too a tesco store ,milk ,9 drops ,said his boss had been asked too tender ,put in a outrageous quote as he didn’t want the job but got it ,9 drops to tesco stores every day ,Id take a job with gold star

Does anyone have any idea what Goldstar, are currently paying? Looking at applying for night driver vacancy.
A mate of mine applied for a job at Heathrow, he said it was 26k mon-fri, 7am-7pm
That’s probably Goldstar at Heathrow. Nowt to do with Goldstar Transport that do Containers.
So the green Goldstar trucks have nothing to do with Goldstar containers? Was wondering why they gaeve totally different liveries; usually you can’t use another company’s name, particularly in the same industry.
You’ll be okay on there, (I think). Like I say they’ve had a few drivers leave recently but don’t know any reasons. All I know is that when I did casual work for them it was pretty good.
