Beats the Red falcon’s sinking of a 200k yacht in Cowes , hands down [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

The collision was caused by bad weather, with strong winds blowing the vessel off course, according to union bosses.

A Union captain is never at fault

Hardly a £200k yacht. If I were Red Funnel I’d settle up on a Contessa of similar vintage, probably about £25k.

Wonder why the ship did not sound its horns to warn people?

And the Bluetooth earpiece wasn’t picking up maritime frequencies, so he was unable to communicate with the dockworkers

There was nobody on the yacht.

Better wait till the investigation is done. Could be a technical malfunction or helmsman simply got disoriented.

Seems to be a regular occurrence.

Funny looking yacht?

As the ship was under power and manouvering in port I would like to think theres several people on the bridge it is after all the most dangerous time for any ship.
Defo under its own power with no lines or anchor deployed.

Looking at waves it is clearly more than a stiff breeze. Seems strange the ship had no tugs to assist?
I know they cost money and companies don’t like expence, and can pressure captains to not use them.
Could the port authorities insist on tugs being used? Would a pilot be on board? Possibly the ferry captain could be cleared as a pilot in his home port?
Or am I asking silly questions? (Again)
