Maritime Southampton

Anybody know what Maritime are like to work for at Southampton, pay etc

There’s plenty of threads on here about maritime and the money. There’s better places to work out there but there is also a hell of a lot worse. I worked there for 18 mths and was happy with the money. Never took home less than £500 except when on holiday. You will put the hours in though and don’t expect to be home at dinner time on a Friday. Trucks are all kitted out with fridge and microwave.

You’ll be cab hopping for absolutely ages. They will tell you it will be for a couple of months, some guys waited 2 years for their own unit. The planners or operators, whatever they call themselves will be on your back all the time, "what time did you park up last night?, what time did you start this morning? where are you now? etc etc. If they got rid of them and let you get on with the job it wouldn’t be bad. Oh by the way, it ain’t just containers, they will have you doing deliveries for Tesco’s. Don’t leave your engine ticking over otherwise you’ll get a phone call reminding you about the fuel you wasted!

It’s 4 on 4 off on nights, so hopefully no overnighters

It’s possibly going to be trailer changes at Ikea in Donny, (but the senior drivers would have them) or it’s going to be mostly Tesco work…lovely!!!

If you go after the job be very wary what they tell you about it . You need to speak to some of their lads to find out exactly what it is and what it entails. Remember the, “You’ll have your own unit in a couple of months.” Yeah right!!

Whats wrong with tescos?
