Maritime Security Act - For anyone who does dock work

Has anyone else noticed a clampdown on the Maritime Security Act since the latest wave of attempted car bombings?

Here at Teesport the Search Team have actually been getting out of their van and putting the white gloves on - cab interiors and vehicles thoroughly searched, although not drivers as yet (shame…  ). Normally they just loiter in comfort and note down reg. and box numbers etc. :open_mouth:

Are any other Import Terminals doing the same?

(Mind you, the Ministry had a clampdown on dock shunters up here a couple of weeks back, too, so it may be connected to that…which is a whole other story best not repeated on a public forum… )

Been popping to southampton regularly and had cab searched the last week. They had a good look round my trailer but it was just an empty skelly. What exactly are they looking for ? . Just seems to be a token effort as they still just lift the barrier when you drive in the dock gate.

what gets me with teesport in the present climate is that ive never been stopped at all when approaching the main entrance barrier

I deliver CAT machines to southampton, immingham, and tilbury and not once have i been stopped, just get waved straight through… :astonished:

The French seem to have been disturbed from their snoozing at the channel tunnel.

They have started dusting the drivers door handle and steering wheel more. Im trying to get them to do all the dashboard but I think they have heard that one before :stuck_out_tongue:

not had any problems since i stopped wearing my bomber jacket :sunglasses:

so far have been stopped every time i enter fawley refinery, normal check though,.

mirror under everywhere,cab interior,etc.
they was a bit slack till mobile went off in office to collect papers,by did i get a bollocking off the woman behind the desk.

How easy would it be to fill an airtank on a trailer(skelly), with plastic explosive and have the detonator ariel in the pipe leading to it■■?

Very easy indeed!!!

im ex BP you want overkill work with them

i go to brum airport airside via the cargo area twice a week and have never been searched > (cab or inside trailer) , although i have a airport pass as been going there for the past 4 years, i do get escorted by a hilux but the scarey thing is i take the lorry past the planes into the area what they call airside , could do some major damage if i was a funki-mental-ist

You should pop over to Truckers Moan and give them the heads up about this. It seems they have taken up the fight against international terrorism, I bet old Osama is quaking in his sandals and ready to surrender any moment.

CLICKY

It wont be long until those that want to use a heavy to blow something, after that we will be stopped and searched daily.

Easier to do in a container tought as the driver doesnt know whats inside it.

I don’t believe this comment. There would be little damage caused in the docks from doing this. If you have ever done boxes you will know why.

I said a container as in the big metal bit on the back thats alot of explosive and would cause a hell of a lot of damage!!!.

I find it incredulous what you guys (that includes girls) post here on this freely available public forum.

If i were a terrorist looking for ways to do things & where there might be lax security, i’d sure be coming here for all my good ideas!

MInd you, its not just here, i’ve seen similar in other areas online also.

:open_mouth:
Yeah I’m sure Osama and his mates need our help to make bombs and research targets.
There is no such thing as security through obscurity.
Besides which, if the good guys are reading this too, then they’ll take some tips away with them. :unamused:

I thought about this a while back while driving a fridge past Westminster at midnight - “if the fridge was full of fertiliser it would make a pretty big bang”.
Now I’ve said it, let’s watch the news and see what happens.
