Double post.
Pity there not a depot in my area ,my application would be going in .
There is a reason why Maritime struggle to get drivers.
The amount of pay doesn’t make a good job it’s the BS factor and I’ve heard in some Depot’s the BS is off the scale, I know a few Night drivers good set of lads we often meet up at Amazon Depots when I’m on a Amazon run they don’t seem to have any issues with the firm but some of them are doing the same run every night that would bore me to tears.

I suppose any large company like Maritime will have good planners/bad planners, office staff that talk to you like dirt/office staff that will talk to you like a human being, sound managers/■■■■■■■■ managers etc. etc.
Different drivers in different depots, working in different departments and on different shifts will have differing experiences. Thats why I think opinions you read on here about what Maritime/Stobarts etc. are like to work for, aren’t worth very much. You have to suss it out for yourself. For every unhappy driver theres happy ones.

I agree Mate, you really don’t know till you try it for yourself as I said the lads I know don’t knock the firm I even know a lad who defected from Stobart’s (my firm) Thankfully UK HGV Drivers are now in a position were we can firm hop so you can dip your toes and see if you like the water.
By the way, this wasn’t a POP at Maritime (just re-read my header) just the fact big firm’s can be brutal, what I’ve heard off the lads I know that some Depot’s are better than others, but that’s exactly the same with my lot

+1.
Also, ‘face fits’ is a big part, someone takes a dislike to you and there’s always going to be issues, nothing you can do about that.
I’m a bit of a gobby git, so can happily tell someone that I don’t give a ■■■■ what they think of me personally, but if it affects work then we’re going to have issues.
Past 2 of maritimes new fh volvo’s pulling waste trailers yesterday looks like they are now doing landfill work .

Horrible job, especially ruining the stuff into DFDS on a Monday morning when it’s been sat in the sun all weekend pays well though apparently.
Janos:
The long and short of it is, that maritime have a high turnover of drivers. They call it ‘driver churn’. Draw your own conclusions.
They don’t deserve good drivers.

It varies greatly by opinion. You decide.

I haven’t got a clue, that’s why I’m always asking this question:grin:

Thats the opinion I’m after, people’s opinions, not mine…[emoji1]
Hmmm. I am not sure of my opinion, on the mentioned opinion’s.
Anyone else have an opinion?
I wonder if anyone has ever compiled some serious statistics of whom the 800 odd professional drivers killed each year - were working for at the time?
I would not be surprised in the least - if it turned out that the “perceived less-safe” yards to work for (let’s say) had a higher rate of driver attrition due to death or serious injury whilst on duty…
This also applies of course to firms that run into multi-company-present working areas that are also considered ‘less-safe’…
I work for maritime been here just on four years, never take home less than £500, I often take home a lot more than that.
Great holiday pay, all parking pre-paid, most tolls on tag/account, great kit, easy work.
I’ve had a pay rise every year since I’ve been here. So all in all I’m happy.

Got a reference for that stat?
