Their basic hours are 55 per week and they only pay cab hopping bonus on old contracts. Anyone employed about 4-5yrs ago to present day don’t get it.
Ok, I’m gonna ask the question others are afraid to:
I don’t know what they are like to work for but most on here seem to love or hate. from my own experiences too many seem too eager to get rid of drivers for petty reasons then moan they need drivers.
I have noticed over the years that two of the companies with big modern fleets NEVER stop advertising, Stobarts and Maritime seem to go through some drivers, Maritime is advertising in the job centre for 4 on 4 off for Doncaster, and it is something that always used to put me off constant advertising, I used to think “are they Crap” which was answered when I worked ES at Goole on agency, I did two nights and never bothered going again.
They are adverting for drivers at DHL NISA here in Scunthorpe at the moment, Agency’s and DHL as well are advertising, that company has been through more or less every C+E driver within 30 mile radius, and it is reported they have an 85% turnover of drivers, they are utter Barstewards and are not worth getting out of bed for, I do not know of anybody with a good word for them.
There are plenty of good companies along the M/A 180 Immingham/Grimsby so why work for crap like the above.
Our place seems to be going through a little crisis with the trampers right now. Can’t get them and can’t keep them. 3 handed their notices in this week already. All walking straight into other jobs. They can’t seem to understand why which is the worrying thing, even when you spell it out for them. £26.5k salary based on 50hrs per week. But they are regularly doing between 60+ per week. So that’s the equivalent of working a day each week for free. We also have some trampers on hourly rate. They can get parked up after 10hrs and get the full weekend off so they can’t make any decent money, while the salary men are getting hammered. I suppose if drivers are willing to work for that, then the company will keep doing it. But I reckon its coming to an end for them now.[emoji3]

WTF is the “Cab Hopping Bonus” exactly?
If you don’t have a designated unit, you get a bonus for swapping cabs every week, or at least you used to, as I understand it. I’m sure I’ve seen it mentioned on here that it was £50.
I think newbies cab hop until a unit becomes available, though I could be wrong.
■■■■■■■■ to moving all my gear out every week… Have you SEEN the ■■■■ I carry?
From the info posted, it seems to work out at just under a tenner an hour. Which confirm’s what a driver out of Trafford Park was telling me last week.(on day’s).
Seem’s about the average rate to me. I’m on about the same for Mon-Fri day’s.

Haha - that sounds like a bonus for “not going to the toilet once all shift” or “getting paid your wages in fifty pence pieces”…
No wonder I didn’t have a clue… I can’t imagine a bonus like that south of the Thames here…

In fairness to Maritime, they don’t entertain agencies so probably have more need than most to keep the CV pile topped up.

Nah, think you’ll find it includes night out money and meal allowance…
When I was there in 2010, the basic without any bonus’ worked out to around £6.75 if I remember correctly…
It’s all well and good saying they are struggling to get drivers but the job advert I’ve seen expects 2 years experience, they can’t be that hard up for drivers if they can still advertise like that
A lot of the info posted on here is way off. Wages are reviewed every year and this is just when it happens, it’s not a panic raise because of lack of drivers. The 522 seems like a figure plucked out of thin air by the OP.
I only actually saw the increase in pay this morning while I was still half asleep but the basic was upped by £15 (£435). Then you get £10 meal allowance per day just for turning up (£485). Then whatever night outs you do £23 IIRC which I usually do 4 (£577). On top of that any overtime which is now £11ph after 11 hours and bear in mind you are guaranteed 11 hours per day so if you work 13 hours for 4 days then work 8 on the 5th (total hrs 60) you get paid for 63. As far as OT is concerned I usually average about 8 hours per week so from that £577 it would then be £655. That’s based on Mon-Fri with no weekend working, if you did work Saturday it’s the OT rate for the first 6 hours then £14ph, so if you did 8hrs Saturday on top of that week you’d be looking at £782 assuming you did a night out on the Friday.

You do 23 hrs p.w ( apologies if I’m reading it wrong ) ,600 for 46 hrs ,and I only do half the contracted hours ,are your contracted 46 hrs .
Any speculation or assumption on here about what Maritime or any other Company pay is just pie in the sky,all depends on what the Individual Drivers consider to be a good pay deal compared with what he /she is currently on
Unless you apply, get an interview, and go armed with all the questions, its all 3rd party gossip and rumours which more often than not can be taken with a pinch of salt
