Agreed. My interest in politics is pretty much nil since the Labour party stopped being the Labour party but became a slightly left leaning version of the Tories (& even that’s stretching it).
As the old saying goes “whoever you vote for, the government always gets in” has never been more true IMO

Nope, NUM & on strike for the full 12 months. I hated the woman with a passion at the time but it was 30 years ago & I like to think I’ve moved on… life is too short to carry grudges.
I’ve been thinking about this post for days…
My Dad was unemployed for eighteen months around the same time because he left the Merchant Navy so he might get the chance to bring his family up.
He had to sell the house and uproot the lot of us to get a job in the end (just like Tebbit said and my Dad believed) and we still never had it as hard as those Mining Families.
Some might think Thatcher set us free, some might think she just cut us loose. The real story is that the best things we Brits do is cope, especially when the going gets tough.
