MAPS??

Its a standard extra in my truck, the a-z replacing the speedo :open_mouth:
My eyes have got worse as I have got older to,I can only read maps with my glasses on
The truckers atlas is very good,I have the phillips one to.

Maps have good and bad points.

Firstly, the good points.

1, Pay for them yourself, and keep them.
2, Change job and take them with you.

Now, the bad points.

1, If the firm pays, they keep them.
2, The ‘Big Atlas’ has every town plan in the back pages, except the town you are delivering in !
3, Within 12 months, A To Z’s are out of date.
4, If you don’t believe point 3 above, see what happens when you find the new ‘Ring Road’ or ‘Bye - Pass’ you never knew was there !

Failing all of the above, go in to a petrol station , waving your arms about with your notes in your hand.
This must be followed with the exclamation " No English! "

They will either lend you an A to Z to look at, or Victor Meldrew in his Nissan Micra on the forecourt will spend half an hour trying to give you directions.
After directing you past the engineering works (3 miles out of your way ) where he used to work ( which is now a housing estate ) you may be in with a chance.

If you are lost in London however, my advice is NEVER ask a Postman.

With any luck, you may meet Postmen from all European, Asian, Mediterannean and far afield countries, but not the postie who say’s " Yes guv, first right, first left, and it’s the third on the left ! "

Look’s like the computers are taking over

Cheers,

Niall.
