Microsoft AutoRoute is a popular choice. And just like Robert says, you can add bridge heights to it, too.

I was looking for a program that you can save on your documents and open when needed.

AutoRoute allows you to save map files that include your routes, etc. The new version AutoRoute 2010 adds quite a few interesting features.

i use mappoint 2009 and find it very good as a backup to my paper map and tomtom truck,(my disc was free    )

AR2010 is about the same as Mappoint 2009 apart from the business tools with MP2009, I don’t know if the map is the sameor a later map but can’t see any difference. It is a lot better than AR2007

I have a laptop with microsoft autoroute on it, and it even has many of the customers and cleaning stations Ravioli will be going to already programmed in to it

Hmm, Ebay methinksā– ā– ?

How’s this GPS Locator thing work? Do you buy it separately and does it cost anything to run? Subscription or contract?

Gps does not cost anything to run many people get this and gprs basic Internet connection on your phone mixed up with gps you only receive a signal there’s no contact or anything to sign just plug receiver in and go

Thanks.
Are these Gps dongle things cheap? :open_mouth:
Does this mean that I can have the Gps switched on, on my Mobile and it won’t cost anything in data usage? :astonished:

Yes, doesn’t cost on my phone on o2, but it does drain the battery quickly. :imp: I only switch mine on when I need it.

I am thinking of buying autoroute 2010 incl gps am i right in thinking it will be saved to my documents so wont need to use my internet dongle,
cheapest i’ve found it is from amazon for Ā£66 incl gps dongle.

You may be able to do this cheaper
You can get a Gps Dongle from eBay for less than Ā£20. I’ve ordered one and I’ll comment on it when it comes. As for the MS AR 2010   PM me

I need a working 3G sim card in my HTC Magic for the Gps to send the data.

you don’t need to use the internet with Autoroute and a GPS dongle its the same has using a Sat Nav and when you have planned a route you can save it to your Documents for future reference.

you may need the 3G for the map as it may well be ā€œon lineā€ rather than stored on your phone, this uses lots of data, the GPS is not stored anywhere and is like a radio signal that has nothing to do with the network you are on but works through the hardware built into your phone
