Is there any software I download to the laptop to use for offline mapping of the UK. ■■
I use MAPS ME from google play store. Download the app first then zoom right into the UK and it asks if you want to download a UK map (all free).
It then works offline with very good detail, you can also download a GPS app and use it as a basic sat nav as it works out routes. Only trouble is it doesn’t show low bridges so common sense must be used.
Saves carrying multiple maps around though.
You can actually download large sections of google maps to use offline.
If you are able to use it, garmin have mapsource.
But it you want to download large areas, countries,or even continents, then openstreet maps is the one to look at.
