TBH would I just stick the card in when I got there, pull it and go home without a manual in sight if I was tramping? yeah course I would. Just making the point that VOSA would if they were to investigate. Company would have to have been bad boys for that kind of investigation though!

there isn’t a driver out there who is arriving at work, getting straight in their truck and putting their card in and when they finish taking their card out and getting in the car and driving home. We’re all getting keys, paperwork etc and doing the reverse when we finish.

Wrong again, there are many who do so.
What about trampers who come in at beginning of week, put card in as soon as they get in their truck, and out at end of week and drive home.
I do it every week.

• 1 ^^^…Drive upto the truck, retrieve keys from their hidey-hole on the truck, get in and put card in on other work, do the required paperwork, do the walk round, shake your booty and move truck from its spot and put the car it its place…rinse and repeat when it gets back, taking the card out once everything has been completed…

The camera never lies, and its been used to prove what we do, and this is acceptable to DVSA, as our cameras are hard wired in, and spark into action once the key goes into the ignition, picking up everything including the audio…

As bald bloke says, we are paid in 15min slots so if I remove card at 20.04 then it will be poa til 10 past while I sit around in the drivers room then other work til quarter past to log out on microlise and swipe out.

Can you explain why you think the 30 seconds walking from your car to your lorry is ‘other work’ but the 30 mins of driving to it are not? (The answer is neither are ‘other work’)

I’ll follow your advice then and pack my supermarket job in with it’s excellent terms and conditions, excellent way I’m treated, loads of time off etc etc and get a job with a company who ain’t bothered what I do. Thanks for the advice.

Calm down love I wasn’t referring to Asda. I don’t believe for one second they’d have a problem with drivers accounting for every minute they’re at work. I’ve seen it on here loads of times, companies asking drives to do vehicle checks before inserting their card, tipping on break and god knows what else.

If a company actively tries to get their employees to fiddle their hours I doubt they’re as good to work for as Asda.

I park my car next to the lorry, get straight in the lorry, card in straight on other work, same when finish, select rest, card out straight into my car, no need for manual entry

Unless you are walking to the unit with your eyes closed wether you realise it or not you have started doing your vehicle checks, key in door, climb into cab, thats working and the card hasnt yet been inserted and read in the head unit. card out end of week, climb out of cab and lock it, thats ensuring the security of work property so therefore working. Yes, pedantic but still valid and no as said earlier I probably wouldn’t bother to make a manual for it if I was tramping. Vosa peering through the fence may have an issue though

I would be imagine that once you have parked your car on your work premises, you are then deemed to be at work so anything you are now doing is ‘other work’ until you begin driving.

It’s a hell of a lot easier on the current generation heads compared to the first, especially stoneage (stoneridge).
I used to work for Wincanton who were very strict on matching tacho to timesheet which has just stuck with me.

I did an induction via an agency at Wincanton and it was this time which started me getting into the habit of doing manual entries. They seemed very strict on following the letter of the law. I was doing some milk collection and even things which weren’t to do with driving as such were carefully monitored.

It was good to experience how a professional outfit does things.

In that case I’d better do a manual entry when I get to work in the morning as 10 mins ago I thought about what my day will entail tomorrow. It’ll bugger up my daily rest, but rules is rules.

Yesterday I was browsing Amazon deciding whether to buy a new road atlas.
Can we only look at Bully’s when off duty, and the Professional forum when booked on?

Indeed. I know a bloke who owns his own transport company and lives on site. I’m going to tell him he needs to black out the windows on the side of his house that faces the yard, lest he look out of a window and inadvertently perform a vehicle check without doing a manual entry.

Should I at this moment be on ‘Other work’ instead of break??
What if they are watching me now, …and I aint even wearing a hi viz !!

At least it aint JUST me who does not take all this type of crap too seriously, so there’s hope for us all yet.

With some of em (on here) they’re too frightened to ■■■■ in case they are in the wrong tacho mode, or fall into severe depression if they go over 2 minutes on their driving…get a life ffs, just because you’re a driver VOSA (or whatever tf they call themselves this week) don’t own you !!
Just remember to wear your hi viz and hard hat when walking around doing your daily checks with a clipboard and they can’t touch you.

Card in once I get there and manual entry for rest period…At the end of the day the card stays in until I’m about to cycle home.
