These were good and done what it said on the packet
remember we got MAN 232 units at malcolms preston depot. Column change and after a while the gear change became very loose. If it was your unit you knew it and got used to it,but any other driver getting in would struggle for a while. After coming off an atkinson borderer 220 ■■■■■■■ we all thought the MAN 232 was very poor ,no guts.later we got the MAN 240 ,the cab was miles better than the atki and the 232 but still no guts, the ■■■■■■■ did not give up as easily as the MAN. The glasgow drivers where getting the 280 version which was a lot better ALL round.

Looks better that way up, thanks. Just 3 yrs old there
…and mine circa 1993…
great motor and very reliable. a 370 and did what it said on the tin, no more, no less. A 420 would’ve been nice tho for the Alps etc…
The F-2000 was a cracking piece of kit.
Let’s not forget that MAN had Rudolf Diesel working for them between 1893 - 1897, and gave Diesel the freedom to work on and experiment with his theories of a compression engine.
Was the F2000 the best M.A.N. ever - like some reckon the 143 was the best Scania ?

I ran this motor for a couple of years, it was bombproof. The only reason I sold it was it was a bit slow and I struggled to keep up with the time schedules needed by the dock.3210
i think I drove that truck for a while at pilkingtons kev

Hey, have here a infopic (maybe from this site don’t remember) It shows a V10 with 330HP ■■?
Cheers Eric,
Me on (I think) the A34 Oxford area 2008. Had the pleasure of driving a column change with a ZF box in late seventies, definatly a memerable experiance.

The Mercedes version was rated at 320bhp. There was, I think, a V10 19.320 in Europe, in addition to the underfloor-engined 320. The UK models were called 19.330. There does not seem to be much sense to it.
Here are a couple I had a play with . The Demo’ 1 we had on Cannon’s was when the F90 cab first came out, I had it for a 3 day run up North X2 nights out, I thought it was a cracking motor
& much as I liked my F7 at the time I would happily have kept the MAN
. The other I had on Frederics for a bit, I thought the Roadhaus cab was the nuts, loads of space/storage etc & comfy beds, fridge handily placed in middle of cab to dip into for Choc’ Bars & cans of coke etc ( you needed plenty of Caffeine to keep it all together on Frederics
), & with the fuse out & 16 gears to choose from she was a flyer
.
