Quick one. I filled my registration paperwork in for Manpower at the weekend. Job applied for is 7.5 tonne work. Decent rate and seems an ok job…(this is temporary, for Xmas)
They said they call me once completed to organise assessment etc. Not heard anything as yet… Anyone a heads up on likely timescale for Manpower?

When I did it the first time I think there was a small delay for disclosure, and the assessment / induction was more like a drive round the yard. The disclosure was never done again, but they introduced a road drive part and I think I put the vehicle on a bay as well as answered a few drivers hours questions and the like. If you have class 2 you can do the assessment in that I think, to allow you to have that option. Not sure how Covid affected what they are doing, because I haven’t done it since that kicked off.
This is some of the easiest work, but you have to bear in mind that you are filling gaps, not getting a regular duty, so there can be waiting around. Find out your minimum hours as this can vary depending on the time of year.

Cheers buddy. I’m thinking that the checks and references are being looked at first - and you’ve confirmed that, so much appreciated. Been offered some day trunking on class 1 elsewhere, but going to hold fire as the 7 5 tonne stuff at RM pays better!![emoji44][emoji6]

Dont hold out to much hope for R.M. work. I did some a few years ago. It was all shifts cancelled at the last minute . Three shifts some weeks none the next. Sure you get paid for sleeping some of the time. In my case it just wasnt a reliable income stream.

Cheers pal. Tbh I want ad hoc atm. But i would get a bit p off if they were constantly cancelling.
Any idea what the class 1 Xmas stuff is like?

I tried Manpower last year for RM Christmas work. I was told by another agency before starting, that they get so many drivers signed up, that they don’t give everyone work. They only guarantee 4hrs per shift too.
When I started with them, they gave me 3 x 7hr shifts for the first 2 weeks, I didn’t do a third.

Cheers for that. Must have had a lot of applications from brilliant drivers as I have class 1, class 2. C1 and 12 years’ experience - and I haven’t even been offered an interview/assessment…!
Ah well… Looks like it’ll be trunking on the “proper” trucks instead. [emoji85]
