Manpower agency questions

Anyone work for them or has worked for them?
Was talking to a driver the other day who told me that he had to sign a contract with them that stopped him from working for any other agencies. Is that true? Also said that he was guaranteed a weeks wages if they didn’t have any work for him. I like the idea of that

My experience of Manpower, well the driving side, in this country is a nightmare that ended up in court.

Yeah they make you sign an exclusive contract, though it wasn’t worth the paper it was wrote on as they cant legally stop you from earning cash! Maybe thats why they’ve started paying even if ur not working

just watch the payslips, they paid my wages into a strangers bank then told me it was my problem to recover it, as they have paid someone. took me 4 months and a small claims court aperance to get my wages.

lets just say, my nearest office was 35 miles away, and it was a wasted journey.

On the plus side the work they offer was all easy stuff for a good wage.

From what i’ve heard, they are good at giving a steady wage but that might be less than other agencies - bit like working for a permanent employer but with a fixed term contract.
I’m not sure that they can legally stop an individual working for someone else though…
not heard anyone complain about them

I’m on with manpower, well technically anyway.

I told them they wouldn’t be my primary agency and they mumbled a bit and got out a different bit of paper that I had to sign to say I’m sorting my own tax out and that I’ll tell my other agencies etc etc.

However after plenty of phonecalls to them, and 2 months of not even a sniff off them, I have given up.

Like most other agencies they’ll probably screaming their heads off for drivers November/December, then the rest of the year they only give work to their favorites!

Thats why it pays to make sure you are favorite with at least one agency

I used to be with Manpower only thing that used to annoy me was the frequently occuring wage cockups where they would be a day or 2 short on the payslip and it would take them a fortnight to sort it out

I was chatting a chap who lives over the road from me last night who used to swear by Manpower but he reckons since easter hes only had 19 days work off them and they asked him if wouldnt mind going to a job in Evesham the other day from Sutton Coldfield would be a 88 mile round trip for an extra £5 a day in petrol money :open_mouth:
