Managers Cpc June 2014

Hi All

Just wondering if anybody sat the cpc course yesterday?
Wasn’t too confident when I opened it especially when the lass handing out the papers came to my desk and said oo it’s Friday 13th ! Great ! Cheers for that
Managed to get all questions answered to what I thought were right but question 1was a total guess as nothing in my notes related to the question and after searching after found out what I guessed was totally wrong so dropped 7 marks straight off :frowning:
Think the last question I went in the wrong direction to what was asked but can’t remember the exact wording now!
The rest I think ok but find out in six weeks
Hoping on a pass as second time for case study after March , but who knows , now on the green mile of the 6 week wait
Would be good to here how others got on and what were the answers they put ?

it is normally 8 weeks for the results to come through

Well that mile got a bit longer :open_mouth:

Good luck Alcar, I believe the results do come through a bit quicker than they used to, so maybe early August?

Cheers Harry, sadley the more I think about it and look over things, the school boy error of not reading the question and rushing to get it done, I fear has been done :frowning: if I pass it will be on the bread line, think overall this one was a lot easier than March but fingers crossed and all that, there is always September . I got my results quicker last time , they usually say 6 - 8 thank god I’ve got a busy couple of months at work to keep mind off it

which questions did you struggle on?

Alcar:

I bet every CPC exam candidate says the same thing with hindsight. I know I did.

You may pass or you may fail but there’s no point in spending the Summer fretting about exam results, go out and enjoy the sunshine. Just let us know when the results come home and we’ll either congratulate you or give you advice about the re-sit. :stuck_out_tongue:

Hi shuttlespanker,
The main one I just didn’t know was the o license question
1 how many hours does an external t manager need t be at site with certain amount of trucks, minimum was 3 , they answer is on the gov website tm1g how to fill in! The answer was not in the notes I got from eos, so in turn you needed to do some out with course book learning , I didn’t know so knew that if 2 or less was 8 hours minimum so all totals I divided by 2 and multiplied by 8 lol guess but wrong , didn’t want to put nothing

1b was about how much funds would be needed to apply for the start up of 4 op centres , showed all workings and got a total of about 122500roughly but this was based on each o centre being in a separate o area, can’t remember ifwrong the study said it was in 1 or 4 ! If 1 all wrong

1c when applying for I license how long before do the bank statements need to be from , minimum
1d how long to they need to be for
1e how long can t commissioner give you t see them
Didn’t know any of the above as nothing in my notes so put 1 month , 1 year , and 28 days , all a guess
Total for question 1 definitely guess nod prob wrong 7 points,!! Not a good start

Can’t remember exact order but

2 vat question , think done ok, asked who pays cat on 3 journeys and why
3 service schedule question , asked what guide t road says to look at before deciding what schedule to put trucks on, done ok
4 scheduling , think ok , but thought I’d mucked up like march by putting my ferry in non local time when arriving in holland , so changed all t show extra hour then realised that the case study already said truck arrived t lock time , so have to change all back, :unamused: hopefully won’t get marked down for untidy paper!! Finished at 2209 , hopefully other have that answer ! Think ok tho
5 costing, ahhhhhhh usually great at costings, think I worked out all the foyers on the kms over the whole leg of 2250kms, I got told after over leg 1 800 kms!! Think saving a couple of points by putting in the correct pence per kms 1st !!! Dropped a lot of points by 'not reading the question '! Annoyed at myself for this, could really be the difference between the pass and fail !!
6 can’t remember the question but was either , what actions could you take to limit liabilities or what action can you take to avoid damage in transit!! If the first I got totally wrong if 2nd then got a good few points, but again this was for 9 points so a lot of points lost if wrong , have funny feeling I was wrong,
Sub question about fueling up abroad and claiming back vat,2 points , got 1 but was writing another when bell went!

Can’t remember if there were any more sub ones but that’s the main ones,
3 questions I think have let me down, 1 which I simply never read the question :frowning:

If I pass it will be by the skin of my teeth I think , hopefully others haven’t made the same mistakes I did and have done well

how did you come up with that figure?

all vehicle funds are either 7400 or 4100, how did you manage to get it to end with a 50? :open_mouth:

on the schedule, did you remember to add the 20 minutes just after the 45 minute break at the start of the driving time to the ferry?
