MAN TGM battery problem

I drive a 08 18t TGM and the 12v socket battery guard seems to be kicking in sooner and sooner with my tv and only tv on
With engine just turned off battery reads 26v engine on 28.5v but turn off it drops with in 10mins cutting socket off
Is one of the batteries going ?
P/s night heater is playing up as well linked?

I’m no electrical expert mate, but I know enough about being stuck with flat batteries in the cold, so I’d recommend getting them tested asap. For piece of mind if nothing else.

+1, they’re probably the originals, about 9 years old, get 'em checked/replaced (as a pair) a lot cheaper than calling a fitter out to jump start you, then replacing them anyway. [emoji6]

At least one of them is goosed…

A battery should be about 14.8v whilst the alternator is running, so up 29.6v would be fine. Each fully charged battery should be 12.8v, within a few minutes of stopping the engine. The voltage shouldn’t drop much unless there’s a heavy demand, and certainly not within 10 minutes. Yes the heater problem will almost certainly be a result of the faulty batteries, as it’ll be electronically controlled.

If it’s your wagon, you can check the batteries with a multi meter, or volt meter, if you’re parked up for weekly rest etc. After stopping the engine, remove the jumper lead between the two batteries, and check each battery voltage. It should be about 12.8v. After 24 hours check again, and they should both still be much the same.

If it’s not your wagon, tell your boss his wagon’s fubarred…
