Man power agency

Why is the rate they pay drivers at RM so much better than any of their other clients?

Probably for the same reason agencies at Hygena used to pay more - Hygena in this case told the agency what they were going to pay their drivers but still made sure it was worth their while.

Different customers/clients have different ways of looking at their businesses.

Most are Bean Counter (Accountant) driven, and an Accountant knows the cost of everything and the value of nothing. So as such, will pay as little as they can and get the dross and dregs, without realising the cost to the business of this. While some companies may realise that paying peanuts, will attract moneys, and choose to place better rewards on the table, thus attracting (and keeping) a better level of worker.

It’s not unique to any industry, and next time you see an accountant, try not to strangle them! :open_mouth: (They are not worth the prison sentence! )

Why not? - I’d be able to sue for damage to my hands by their scrawny necks… :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp:

Just think… If a future government scrapped tax offsets outright, then we could nail this “expenses” scandal once and for all. Trouble is, too many are on the fiddle through it to want to give up their tuppence worth, even though those at the top are more than doubling their takehome pay by offsetting anything and everything beyond what we can only dream of. :frowning:

True, but getting bent out of shape (angry) over it only hurts one person, yourself! - The system will never be perfect, fat cats will always gorge at the trough and use accountants to maximise their wealth. So use the system (and agencies) the best you can! So when times are good, ensure you’re getting the best you can. And when times are bad, accept that compromise is needed… Don’t waste your time (or anger) thinking that your being shafted by the fat cats. You are, but sadly there is little you can do about it…

You don’t need to raise taxes to make the government coffers full. You merely need to get everyone to pay their taxes as they are.

If you scrap offsetting, then 99.9% of the means that most use to reduce their tax burden is removed, as are the opportunities to act “beyond the line” ie. illegally.

I’ve been with manpower for the past 2.5 years after being made redundant . yes for the first few months i got the crappy work , how ever I’ve been on class1 royal mail work for over 2 years now the works clean and easy the moneys cracking and the people very friendly .

Winseer:
I’m told we’ve all got to pass a new assessment each and every year to take part at RM as of last year… Plenty of folk are failing said assessments too…

i don’t see the problem with this i had one of the driver trainers out with me all day last monday, its probably the 4th time I’ve been assessed in the past 2.5 years, its all about covering there arses, its not just the agency staff that get assessed like this its also the RM drivers. the more drivers that get the boot due to poor driving the more work there is for me …

What’s the current take home for royal mail at the mo?

i was taking home 440 a week at rm on class 1 for a basic 40 hour week no weekends/overtime

My bruv brings home just under 400 for 3 shifts (long ones )however he only driving around 50% of the time when in there lot of waiting around I’m sure the hourly rate is 14.85 an hour after 10 week qualifying period he’s been in there 4 years in agency plenty of work to be had plus holiday at around 150 quid a day

One of the best of a bad bunch if say.

Where are you based as they haven’t recruited for a long time.
Did you get in at Chorley?

no based in perth

Lucky to get in. Not a lot of recruiting going on.

I went to manpower based on gogzy’s experience, bunch eh useless bastarts sent me to do costa bleedin coffee on a puddle jumper. Don’t have any Royal Mail work in Glasgow/wishaw transline have it, manpower got booted out.

edit

Been doing 7.5 tonne on nights for them at RM the last few weeks at £10.50ph ( Mon-fri rate) so pretty happy  Been promised i will go onto higher pay after a few more weeks.

Only problem i’m having is to getting a class 1 or 2 driving assessment at Warrington but will have to wait until it gets busy i suppose
