Were I grew up I heard Sally traffic saying that County Road was closed on radio 2. I asked on facebook what was happening and apparantly an OAP had been run over in some way by a truck and killed. Very gruesome scene by all accounts. I’ve just been told it was a truck ‘like the ones you drive’ so make of that what you will ! It appears to be a Tool Station truck though. Same as usual though, truck involved so it’s the trucker at fault already !
It is very sad that someone has been killed, but, I see that the driver has been arrested and remains in custody. So is this another case of guilty unless you can prove yourself innocent, or is it a case of yet again poor truck design. Yesterday I came within inches of splattering a pedestrian for one simple reason, could not see him because o the stupid big mirrors we have to have nowadays, the amount of blindspots is silly.
Horribly busy and confusing roads around there, I used to be stationed at a fire station just up the road.
RTC’s were almost a daily occurance.

sorry but you cant blame the mirrors for your poor view! If you can not see clearly around you, the answer is simple, adjust your driving possition! not being able to see is your fault not the wagons! You will have been taught that during your training.
A deaf pensioner stepped straight out behind a bin wagon a friend was reversing and was killed outright. My friend still got sent down for 14 months, even though he didn’t know anything had happened until his banksman started waving frantically for him to stop.

WTF■■? I’m fresh outa training and there’s no seat position that’ll give you an all round view, especially round the headboard, nor do I have an additional six eyes (one for each mirror), what I do have is a bit of common sense when I’m a pedestrian, I don’t walk in front of trucks without catching the drivers eye.

Feel for the deaf pensioner, very sad.
Bit harsh on your mate getting sent down though, did the banksman get to do a bit of stir as well ?

why would you be trying to look round the head board in the 1st place? If your reversing, you (a) know its clear and safe to do so, (b) have a good banksman (if there is 1) so again no need to try and break your neck.
If your driving, then you should be seated in a position that gives you the best all round view, and trust me on this, the law will not give a rats ■■■ about a mirror blocking your view, if its blocking your view, YOU are not seated correctly. THAT my friend IS FACT

Perhaps you can tell us where to get these see through mirrors from, they seem a good idea to me

A shocking state of affairs.
