Man fell four feet. Four fire engines come to help

This is a true story. In the early hours at a weekend,a man fell four feet down an embankment. He was had not fallen in to the river below.
Two fire engines came from Frome fire station about half a mile from the scene.
One fire engine came from Shepton Mallet about 12 miles away. Then a rescue tender that specialises in water rescues came from Bridgwater, about 35 miles away.
The newspaper reports he was given a lifejacket and not injured.
Is this a waste of tax payers money ?
Early hours to me means pub chucking out time.
It does not say he was drunk.
But would a sober person climb over a metal fence late at night ?
Over reaction to this event ?

As it wasn’t life threatening the fire brigade may have decided to use the incident as a training exercise.

They did something similar in Norwich (I think) and a cat stuck up a tree.

Another corker was about the same for a drunk young lady that was stood in a river with water up to her knees.
She had dropped her handbag in the water.
She was so drunk that she could not climb up the muddy bank.
For cats stuck up trees, when did anyone see a skeleton of a cat on a tree?

There was an article in a paper recently about an idea to charge drunks and troublemakers a fee for treatment, wasting staff and police time etc. I would go along with that you can only wonder what it must be like to try and deal with some of these people. Eddie.

You been at the Lemonade again Toby
as for not injured they should have slapped him silly with the life jacket

The life jacket was given to the muppet in case he slipped in to the river or stream in Frome.

Sound perfectly reasonable to me. The fire brigade probably got an emergency call saying that a man had fallen into the river. The will despatch appliances to different locations, to be sure they get the right one, and won’t stand down until they are absolutely sure they have found the right person. If they guy had fallen in, they could well have saved him,we would be praising the fire brigade for their amazing, efficient response.

I have never seen a dead cat stuck up a tree or a skeleton of a cat.Around my neck of the woods ,Trumpton does not attend cat rescues.
But the cat owners get stuck on purpose on top of a tiled roof ,in a rescue attempt to get their cat down.
The fire brigade are called to rescue the man and at the same time get the moggy down.
Two fire engines and a ladder appliance arrived at this incident.
