Yes, on a certain year of manufacturing they had engines blowing up, it was something to do with the factory when testing them on blocks to run too hot.
My old firm got rid of their MAN’s.
I’m in a quandary now
It’s what I want but this is putting me off
I’ve drive plenty of MANs and quite like them
I thought it was the 430’s that were the problem but don’t know if the 330’s used the same block.
It was the 430’s.
Maybe take the Scania pill mate.
Not enough pennies
The issue was Euro5 engines. The factory built both with AdBlu and without, MAN UK pushed the non AdBlu thinking it would give them an advantage, Scania did the same with same results. Because there’s no AdBlu, the EGR recirculation rate is much higher and this causes corrosion in the EGR cooler, leading to failure. When the cooler fails, if it’s on the exhaust side it pumps your water out of the exhaust, it only takes seconds but if the driver is switched on it should be savable, if it corrodes to the inlet side the engine will hydrolock and put a rod through the block. The problem applied to all Euro 5 engines regardless of power.
MAN were very generous with warranty but I doubt they’ll want to know at 15 years old. So, if it has AdBlu, buy it, if it doesn’t (more likely in the UK) run a mile. Scania didn’t have as many failures, but more than enough for the same to apply.
Thank you
I’ve been told that where I would be buying it from are not the best people to buy off
And to leave it alone
Which is a shame because it was what I want
