MAN 440 v MAN 480

Wee got 10/11 plate 440s and they arent ad-blue. Firm up the road has gone the 480 route and they are ad-blue. Nice to drive and I prefer them to the R420 I had, both autos but find the MAN more relaxed.Same as any truck though a bit more pull wouldn`t go amiss.

Do any of you guys know where I can get some Mats at reasonable money? Called into MAN and they are extracting the yellow stuff, £68 for one Mat!! :imp: Was going to look to upgrade the storage box too by replacing the front (there is a power point by the passenger seat) to make it a proper fridge but wouldnt dream of asking MAN at their prices.

Thanks jimmi I will have a look

Yesterday I went on a MAN driving course, we used 1 440 and 1 480 over a 18 mile course. The 480 did exactly the same mpg as the 440 and was less than 10 seconds quicker. This was done 4 times and the results hardly varied. The 480 will be more of a pain because of the need to use ad-blue.

KUDA UK and others do a unit you can bolt on the back of the cool box in your MAN to turn it into a fridge I presume they work OK as have seen them advertised on Dutch and German sites also (about £300 I think)
but MAN will want about £1000 for a new fridge complete.

got my man tga mats from harrisons really nice aswell :sunglasses: 2 footwell mats and big centre mat with man emblem embroidered in it. £52 including postage tgx are same price

Hi annitram, my mate who uses it with me said he could locate the front section (the bit that does the cooling with the switch for £100). Thought that was an ok price. Dont think it was new though so I suppose you take a chance whether it last or not.

Carl, what price was the Mat set mate?

Cheers

Sorry mate (Carl) half a sleep, just finished a night shift, £52 nicker, thats a cool price, think I will go for that, thanks again

matt if ya can hang on till truckfest (thats if ya going) harrisons has a stall there and there usually a bit cheaper mate

I started this a few months ago well we have had some new 480’s for a month or so and they probably are getting close to being 10% better on fuel ( said our TM ) just in case somebody might be mildly interested I thought I would let you know. But they got a poxy little ad blue tank which goes down at the same rate as the fuel tank so really needs constant topping up. Anyway the TM is happy so that’s all that counts I suppose.

Tell him to get manual’s next time then i’ll have some when you guys get rid of them after 3 years.

They got diff locks on them? some MAN’s don’t which proves interesting in the snow paticularly with the auto box.
