Just looking for your thoughts folks. We are thinking about buying a second lorry, a MAN 224 1999, it’ll only be used 2 days a week. Do you reckon 300,000 km is very high, think its about 186,000 mile. Anyone know of any faults I should look for.
300000kms for a 1999 vehicle is very low. My 2011 Renault Premium has done over 700000kms and still going strong.
how many times has it been round the clock? MOT certs should answer that.
Should be fine, make sure you have a good look around it before buying, and i would advise a service/oil change/filters etc just to be on the safe side.
Thanks all, he’s getting it serviced at our own recommended garage and replacing stub axles. We.ve decided to purchase. Seems very sound and lots of service documents.

Barely run in. One Arla Foods depot I used to drive at had a Volvo FM with over 1,000,000km on before they retired it. Some of Howdens Joinery wagons would have 300k on them by the time they were a couple of years old.

Some of our older vehicles have nearly a million miles on the clock. At our place most of the vehicles have 300,000km on inside 3 years.
