Hey, i am currently driving full time for a company doing class 2 work and really enjoying it question is i really want to do my class 1 i have saved the money up from the job am doing now. Just with me been only 24 would i stand a good chance of getting into class 1 work ? am happy to stay with the company am with atm, i could do my class 1 so ive got it and hope 1day to get on to artics lol i also have 21hrs CPC my full ADR just wundering would having that help my chances with me been so young getting feather up the ladder so to speak lol so i thought id do this post and ask the people that are doing class 1 work and have been in this game alot longer than me lol

and if happy where u are the sooner yuou get it the sooner that magic 2 year period id up so when a job comes up you want you will have had ur class 1 2 years go fer it

Just to add. If where you are already working had CE vehicles as well, and they are happy with your work, them they may not be too worried about waiting the 2 years and may try you out at next opportunity after a pass.

Nice to hear you are now booked up for you C+E there mate. All the best with it, and one little tip I got for ya…remember ‘BLACK’ as it could mean the difference between pass or fail!

Hi mate. Sorry it’s took a few days to reply. Just been busy!
Yeah the job has been very hectic. Not much in the way of training. It was basically, “here’s your keys, there’s your truck & trailer…now get to this company asap!” lol
I have certainly been clocking up the hours, but I will say that it’s only Monday to Friday. They only very rarely ask if you want to work on a Saturday or Sunday.
Yes, I have been getting about mate! So far I have been down to Cornwall, up to Aberdeen, across to East Anglia, across to Conwy in north Wales, and most places in between, so I have pretty much the whole of the UK covered! I am parked up in Banbury atm and will be making a collection in the morning from a company here, then it’s off down to Southampton to make the delivery. I believe I then have another collection to make on my way back in Bristol. So there ya go! As you can see I am a busy bee atm.
Did you not read my thread I posted about my first & second week as a new C+E driver? If not, go and check it out…it’s worth a laff! lol
yeh mate i have just been reading through it very good post glad to here your enjoying your self lol arnt you just getting about your all over the place lol am mainly doing nottingham selby leeds wales newcastle, our firm doesnt do over nighters. sorry am only replying now been working and sleeping this week been to knackered to do anything else lol.

Go for it mate! You will stand a better chance of getting work and better work at that usually, if you do upgrade to C+E.
