Making the bunk more comfortable

Just wondering what everyone does to make the bunk more comfortable. Ive recently been given a 2007 stralis activespace and had my first night out in it during the week but it was a bit too uncomfortable for me and I kept waking up during the night and had a pain in my back the next morning.

Carry 3t of flour on your shoulder, 3x sacks at a time, some upstairs. This will ensure you get a good nights’ sleep.

I always had a kingsize duvet folded in half to pad the bunk out. also found I sometimes slept better head on the drivers side then a few days later head the pass side a bit like turning the mattress. A good pillow or 2 helps too.

Memory foam mattress from ikea. Cut it just too big so you get plenty overhang. then King size quilt 2 massive pillows. Boom.

A double/king duvet doubled over and a couple of std pillows is the choice for most people, the additional mattress topper is probably a personnel choice

it always helps if those steps are 200m away from the truck, and the stairs are 4 x 10 steps … then sleep is assured
Theres a splendid pie shop in Darwin up near the leisure centre, a typical 2 up 2 down terraced affair, with the pie shop in the front, where the stairs are so steep its possible to hit your knees on the steps above as you step up. Im not surprised the floor hasn`t collapsed upstairs by now, with the several tonnes of flour that get handballed up there each week into the front “bedroom”
Another stair culprit is a1 up 1 down pie “factory” behind the railway station in Dewsbury

If it’s a Stralis you’ve been given, then I find a gallon of petrol and a match will do for starters, then get a Daf for bed comfort.

Ken.

When I had a stralis, I took the mattress from the top bunk and put it on the bottom. Made it a bit more comfortable.

could,nt beat a scannie D series for a comfortable sleep, loads of room.

Plenty of memory foam going on flee bay…and cheap as chips…

White road commander had a full size normal sprung bed mattress. :sunglasses:

I can sleep any where (and have) but I am more than comfy in my 144L…honest
Though there is more room in a leprechaun’s pocket

I’ve done that with my TGX.

The top bunk is where it’s at comfort and space wise.

+1
I only had a Stralis on 2 x 2week trips last year and the top bunk is much better to kip on. I wasn’t in good humour when my Volvo FH had gone and I was given the keys to an Iveco til the new Actros arrived. Crab auto box, water dripped through the door seals and a cheap and nasty trim but to be fair with just under 600 horses she powered past plenty of trucks up Shap and on the 62

 you needed that bed,Seth ,when you had struggled eight hours to keep that White on the old national road from Vilar Formosa to Porto. :frowning:

I bought some memory foam off eBay cut it to size out it on top of the standard “mattress” a memory foam pillow with a normal pillow on top. Good quality duvet and my head as far from traffic as possible.

Job done sleep achieved.
