Making a drama out of a crisis

Don’t worry it’s in the daily mail therefore not true.

Should be interesting seeing all the equipment for his next film arriving on the back of a horse and cart yet another hypocrite!!!

Daily Mail = posh version of the Sun?

Jeremy who? Should get a proper job!

I think he has a point. Why would you even want to take a truck through there? Depending on which way you’re going it’d be much easier to use the 404 or the A34. And by the time you’re done arsing about round those streets there’s not gonna be much difference in time anyway.

If drivers actually looked at a map instead of blindly following the sat nav they’d see this. Unless you actually have a drop round that area there’s no reason to be there.

Blimey you’d think he could afford to just move somewhere he wouldn’t have to deal with the plebeians.

I set my sat nav for quickest route rather than shortest route, simples.

Oh, I used to like him, I don’t anymore.
And I think they need to do more research on where the trucks are actually going.
There is an industrial estate just before Watlington and I used to drive through that high street regularly as I was always going to didcot or Reading after.

Agreed!

John

There are some unfeeling people on here, they found an Axe, a bronze age Axe for goodness sake, & some roman coins. This alone should make it off limits to anything with more than 1 wheel, apart from all those big cars & tractors of course.

Do any of you lot ever bother to read beyond the headlines of these articles before automatically labelling the people as hypocrites or NIMBYs?

The group’s chairman is quoted as saying they understood the necessity for trucks to come in to make deliveries to residents and businesses - their beef (understandably) is specifically about through traffic.

These nasty smelly juggernaut killing machines in the headlines again what with Bradford on Avon Lorry Watch and Stephanie Riiddout and her legion of hi viz wearing folks doing lorry spotting for free.
They are only worried about their artificialy inflated house prices.
If they spot the lesser Spotted rare newt or frog a whole new road is halted being built or new homes built due to the hairy ■■■ rare snake spotted by dog walkers and ramblers.Who are goody two shoes brigade.
Why is it only dog walkers that find dead bodies.
Bbc news:Dog walker discovers body in woods.
Mr Irons has a new stable or out building built. How does the materials get there.
By a wheel barrow or magic fairies. His village is full of residents that all Lgv freight should be on the rails on trains.
It will be Jermemy Clarkson next at Chipping Norton and his fleet of gas guzzling high performance cars. But no no polluting lorries.

So, he’s not actually outraged by it, he’s outraged on behalf of his P.A.
He wasn’t bothered by it until the P.A stuck her beak in. I wonder what’s going on there for her to have that much influence?..

Who said he was outraged by it?

They could sent Bruce Willis in.Yippy kar ar.Or shoot the next film there with 20 catering truck trailers.5 trucks for the costume/wardrobe department.
6 trucks towing the stars rest area or over night accomodation.
3 trucks for hair and make up.Then 2 towing the power generators.
A fleet of mini buses and coaches to bring in the extras.
Trucks with all the props in and scenery and then the lighting and camera equipment.
So ban the lorries while filming.

What that actually means is they want the trucks to bring their stuff but every one else can bugger off

An air pollution report conducted earlier this year found that readings were similar to those recorded in the London borough of Lewisham

last time i looked Lewisham was in the LEZ zone so the pollution levels should be quite low

Or maybe what it actually means is they want drivers to obey those nice shiny 7.5T weight limit signs?

It’s quiet through there now, used to be busy when the Cement Works at Chinnor was open, that’s closed and become a housing estate, a 7.5ton limit except for access is on the B4009 from J6 of the M40, the only person in there right mind who would go through there now is for access to the Town or the Industrial Estate out towards Chalgrove. Just another case of locals wanting food in the shops but not thinking how it is going to get there.

There are.
Weight limit signs are clear as soon as you come off the M40 at J6.
