Major incidents

There have been two major incidents on motorways today, M5 and M25. Both have involved truck driver fatalities. RIP to both.
What I would like to know is, why do so called professional drivers think it is a good idea to park on the hard shoulder to have a tacho break? This blocks the only running lane for emergency vehicles, recovery vehicles etc attending, not only the incident ahead, but other incidents. As a professional driver, they should know that you can continue to a safe place, not a hard shoulder, do a printout, or write on chart. Is that too difficult?

Technically, you can still get fined, as for foreign drivers and euro drivers don’t have the luxury of being given the Benefit of the doubt as to how an infringement happened.
Common sense goes out the window, if you could face a few 1000 euro fine when you get into euro land.

There’s an incident between Portishead and Clevedon M5 southbound involving a truck also.

Again ffs that’s 3 in the last 7 days

Wtf happened…?

I cant understand why the police don’t move these trucks that keep parking on the hardshoulder, they are an accident waiting to happen.

Pimpdaddy:

Don’t know what happened wouldn’t like to guess but there was a flat bed rigid with front stoved in and several cars with pretty tidy damage there too.
That was the top of Gordano Hill again just where 4 becomes 3.

Because the police rarely patrol motorways these days, but respond to incidents, HATO was set up to patrol them, but according to some of them who post on here they don’t patrol any more but also respond to incidents. All about saving money.

Van driver from Rugeley killed last night on the A38 after running up the arse of a trailer

Prayers go the families and friends of the drivers who died today. R.I.P.

What time did that happen, I was on the 25 early hours this morning going clockwise & saw closure signs around j23-25 so I diverted, thought it was roadworks or something…!?

Agreed if your that worried about running over just get off at the next junction and pull
Up anywhere but the hard shoulder. If you were over taking another lorry and whilst in lane 2 you hit 4h30 you wouldn’t stop in the middle lane and stick your hazards on ffs it’s common sense id rather run 5 minutes over and get a slapped wrist then have something slap my arse on the hard shoulder or stop emergency vehicles getting to someone. And why were on hard shoulders if someone’s broken down or changing there o/s tyre does it really hurt to ease off or move over a little or a whole lane why some poor sods stood on the hard shoulder?, I followed a lorry this morning there was nothing in lane 2 and he was driving near on the hard shoulder white line did he move over a little did he ■■■■ poor sod who broke down must off soiled his pants.

R.i.p to the drivers concerned today condolences to your family’s.

In regards to parking on the hard shoulder, the HA or the Police don’t need to patrol anymore. Nearly every mile is covered by CCTV.

RIP to the drivers and condolences to their families.

Chas I’d love to know where your info comes from because it is so far from the truth.

The police would rather issue a £30 fine than move them on, like what happened a week or so ago on the M25.
And you would probably be doing the same if VOSA started issuing £1500 fines for going over your driving hours!

Well I wouldn’t say that was the case with the M4 for a start. Quite a bit of it isn’t even lit, let alone covered by cameras!
