FLOURPOWER:
HOVIS SED ATKI
Lovely to see this one Flourpower… my old man had this one from new running out of Silvertown. The motor must have been brand new at this stage as due to a poor paint job the grille soon rusted and was replaced with a later S.A. version. I’ll post a later picture now.
My Dad pictured with Seddon Atki in lay-by just before loading at Tilbury early in the morning. He drove this one from new but preferred the Fodens he had always had up to that point. Previous to this was an S.80 reg KYM 747P fleet No. 282 which I think was his favourite.
The early S.39’s and Micky Mouses etc had the Gardner 150, but this and the S.80’s had the Gardner 180. There were two S.80’s running out of Silvertown with Rolls Royce 220’s bought when Gardners were on strike and a real treat with all that power!

I think these are based on Ford Transit running gear and then a custom made body to look like a vintage van. lovely though
