Would of waited until he wasn’t looking and took it off
tonyb70:
where i work as a shunter,we get alot of foreign lorries in,
Tonight a lorry pulled in,but when he went to load he put a magnet underneath,i blatently saw him do it,
What would you do if you saw that happen?
Mind my own business unless I worked for VOSA or the BAG
I’ve herd of drivers using magnets etc, what does it do to the tacho, where do they attatch them and how does it work■■?

It stops it working and looks like you were on break while you are moving. It is not big or clever and most folks are caught out with documentation anyway, fuel receipts, ferry tickets, weighbridges or gate records.
They attach them “underneath”
No different to pulling a fuse or running two log books
Can this only be done on analogue trucks wheel nut or does is work with digi aswell? I’m not looking for tips just interesting the lengths people will go to run bent

Coffeeholic and I concur …
The Lorries i know don’t have a underneeth on the Tach.Just a Frontside.
If you pull the tacho out of his Hole there is not enough Space to put a Plaster underneeth,so how to put a Magnet on it?
Don’t keep such Importand Info for You.Its no Lotto Number

I [zb]ing hope not, I was driving at the time he was posting that from the passenger seat. Mind you, he had just ran a duster round and rearranged the scatter cushions.

Not under the tacho unit, it goes on the gearbox,
As others have said though, a real bad idea, and you WILL get caught and a real big slap.

I like this 1, when he pulls off thinkin’ it’s not going to record, BAM he’s over his hours and D O O M E D! ! !.
You have a nasty side Billy
may be it s depends from lorry model, but if you using magnet and drive very slow, tacho not workink.and if you have daily rest ,but you need moving lorry just couple time .it good.and some British drivers as well do like this.

It works with Digital, analogues are much easier to fiddle, allegedly.
I was also “told” the Transcontinental had a simple fix where the two drive cables joined apparently, many mechanics didn’t know they had to use 3 seals
Quite a few O/D’s of big Scania’s know how to “put them to sleep” with a magnet on a certain part of the gearbox, heard you can’t use the splitter though when this is in progress?

I have heard similar allegations Wheelnut
I thought MAGNET was a beer
I heard you just use your bosses card it’s much easier than rolling round under the truck.
Also if you put a magent on it does it stop the mileage reading on the tacho unit as if does you will have a different reading on the speedo
