Madness

Today I am working for an agency for a local haulage company who are hauling for another haulage company who in turn are hauling for the nominated supplier for this large company.

Is it me?

Money makes the world go round, years ago we used to take a trailer load of frozen chips to Wembley,to be taken off our trailer and put on a trailer on the next bay that would bring them back within 5 miles of where our depot was,and where our trip started…made it a 240 round trip for the load!

The real fun comes when a problem occurs , you phone your office , your office phones the next up the line , they phone the original transport company who phones the customer.
Or it’s all emails and we all know that the pointy toe ■■■■■ in the transport office can’t read .
Bonus points if its 3am , abroad, on a friday or sunday !
You sit waiting for a reply while your time runs on your spread and the ferry time dissappears .

When I worked at Blake’s we used to collect yoghurt from Cheddar and bring it back to Redditch. Some would be reloaded for Sainsbury’s Bristol and some of that would be sent back to the store in Redditch. This meant it had done around 260 miles, mostly on the M5. We also used to collect organic carrots from Peterborough and reload them for Scotland, where they were packed and shipped back to Tesco England. There was a bakery in Pool who made Gala pies (the ones with an egg in the middle) we delivered the eggs which came all the way from Scotland.

I the pallet networks make me laugh
I could pick a pallet up Hedge end to go to Portsmouth 15miles
But it would have to go to Fadley Park for Ferry speed to pick up and bring back to Hilsea in Portsmouth

Were those the special eggs? The ones two foot long, so every slice of pie had a bit of egg with a yolk?

If you think the eggs were special, you should have seen the chickens!
