MADNESS

i have been at ■■? on milk for JUST under 2 weeks .I HAVE been route training yesterday and today ,and on arrival back at depot was told i am on CPC renewal course tomorrow , i said no way jose as im unsure whether i would be here in 3 months let alone ayear as im on probation at mo and it states if i leave within 12 months i will have to payback 70 quid plus days wages for each cpc training given IF I RESIGN BEFORE SAID PERIOD . absolutely ridiculous to even consider me after that amount of time in employment and i was not going to risk a financial loss towards something i do not require until as we know 2019 , when im not even sure about job as im nowhere near being properly trained up on routes etc let alone anything else . i told them im off tomorrow if it was enforced , they have at present backed down and put me out on route monday ,and i wish to have in writing that i will not have to pay any costs if they wish to put me on cpc this week ,as next courses are 2016 .

I agree, absolute madness.

Your gaffers must be wondering what type of lunatic they have hired!

Do you have any plans to quit?

He makes you expensive to leave.Perhaps too many left before 12 Month were over?

NOPE told to come in tomorrow out on route ,like i say i do not need cpc have only been their 2 weeks probation is 3 months so why even enter me for course , i stick up for myself unlike some , they have seen the logic behind my argument ,if im still their this time next year then courses start again and no penalty clause if leaving company thereafter ,also im not planning on working after 55 im 52 now so I DO NOT NEED CPC RENEWAL and will not risk losing 170 quid for it

Saw them in june at gt leighs racecourse a mile from me what a night :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses:

It’s your gamble, you’ve just saved the company a lot of money and will do so every CPC module you turn down.

If your plans don’t work out but you’re still there in 4 years when the CPC is due to renew you can’t expect them to put you through 4 or 5 modules in short succession, the cost will be yours then.

So let me get this straight, THEY want to pay for a DCPC course and also pay you to attend, correct so far? Your complaint is if you leave then you will have to pay back these costs? You do realise that the DCPC runs concurrently don’t you? Which means that when you pass the course you will not have to do another one until 5 years AFTER your current card expires? So even if you left in say six months and had to pay costs back it would only be costs that you would have to pay further down the line yourself to remain in commercial employment.

And you call me the mug? Jeez.

Many drivers leave a new job within the first three months, with many leaving in a much shorter timescale. I sometimes think firms do things like this as an encouragement for drivers to stay, but that all depends as to how they treat drivers, how realistic they are with their expectations and ultimately how happy drivers are there.

Would I tie myself into any financial penalties if I left? Certainly not.

So your outraged when offered free dcpc with day’s pay, but also outraged when you’re told you will no longer be given a portion of your housing rent that you’ve enjoyed for free for the last 20 years?
Your a hard man to please top mix.

AT LAST SOMEONE WITH A BRAIN lol as u say 3 months !! Is a good guide to whether you stay or go ie the probation period is that length. Today is my 15 th day in the company lol

PLEASE ENLIGHTEN ME TO WHERE IT Says its FREE IT HAS penalty clauses do you know youre going to stay in job after 2 weeks for ever also i DO NOT NEED IT after 2019 as i have planned for retirement !!! From driving !!!

On the offchance im allowed to disagree with your logic.

Not really madness as we never know whats round the corner (you could have mentioned your retiring in 3 years in your op). If it was me id still do it as I get to keep it, and worry about paying back the £70 if that eventuality arises.

Nothing like starting a new job and making a name for yourself…
But then im nuts.

I let firms know where i stand from the off that way no hidden crap. They quite happy with me actually , they that short of drivers that when i mentioned the scania p400 seats give me numb back and backside they asked me if that would affect me staying ot leaving !!! They are not bad people and were glad i spoke up abt my concerns. Just had phone call offering me to go on course whether i need it or not now next TUES with NO PENALTY CLAUSE BUT THE ■■■■■ who moaned as well but never spoke up still on penalty !!! If You DONT ASK YOU DONT GET. Lets hope more of us grow some !!! Or the future will be grimm

You really can’t help some people.

I expect this CPC day was in fact an induction day - which can be counted as 1 day towards CPC. If this has been arranged by your company then they are a good employer. All they are saying is, if you leave they want the money back. This will have been in your contract which you have signed, yes?

So let me get this right, a situation has arose in the last few minutes that miraculously strengthens your point of view. :unamused:

OMG who told you the folk who never spoke up would be still on a penalty. You must be really well liked if management are now confiding policy changes to you…
