The driver said he was the original Thomas, dunno if that’s the one you mean, I suppose there’s a few.

Not me shag, bloke next to me on the pump, I’d be scared to drive something like that.
My 16 year old is a trainee fireman at the East Anglian railway museum near Colchester. He’s on duty this weekend on Thomas, he can’t wait, he’s been a fan since he was tiny. (To be fair, I still smile when I see the programmes!)
Silver Surfer you lucky thing lol
One of the few reasons that doing this job is actually worth while.
Jeff.
Aye, all the teenage ladies were out of the Waitrose like a ferret up a trouser leg giggling away next to me & taking pictures as well. I should have got a few cheeky snaps of them too, I shall rescind my manhood membership post haste.
Is this your load Silver Surfer? I adore steam locos.

Think you made a lot of kids day whilst transporting that …
I’m a volunteer at the NNR , just finished a dinning train turn on black 5 44767 " George Stevenson "
Thomas weekends are crazy !! There are people everywhere … And some yummy mummy’s too !!! ,
It’s kind of hard to pin point the " real" Thomas , rev w awdry based Thomas on an lms jinty class loco , there was one painted up like Thomas for a while … It isn’t now !! But that would have been the closest
The nene vally railway have an Andrew Barkley tank engine that was made to look like Thomas before the days out with Thomas was created this would technically be the first Thomas , this is currently in bits with the boiler at the NNR for it’s ten yearly, it’s having a new inner firebox which is a huge job !!
I’ll be honest not sure how many Thomas’s there are … But it’s at least 3 maybe 4 !!
Sorry I asked a few gricers , hope this helps chaps
FYI NNR have just got b1 mayflower for a year … What a machine

Apparently volunteers helping on “Thomas Days” have to be CRB checked, and the copyright owners only licence certain railways to run Thomas days. Which is why the smaller societies run Ivor The Engine, Paddingon Bear days etc.
I bought my son the original series of Thomas (he has the original stories too) which he prefers to the modern namby pamby cgi television shows.
^^ correct everyone involved who is directly contact with children has to be crb checked
You’ve also got to sign in for a minimum of 3 year deal to run it , the outlay is quite expensive but the profit on it is impressive

The anoraks hate it but like you say, it’s a big money spinner and that’s what will keep 80 year old engines in steam (remember many were 30 or 40 years old when BR scrapped them, certainly in GWR territories.
I do like the new build stuff like Tornado, County of Glamorgan etc. Modern techniques ironing out the faults of the past and all that. Surely a new build super efficient steam loco running on Stobart Biomass is a possibility?
If you are CRB checked to be involved with children at a sailing or football club that would not count for working at a railway.Afraid that the CRB is nearly as well thought out and implemented as the DCPC.

CRB doesn’t mean you aren’t a kiddy fiddler, it just means you haven’t been caught yet.
My lad loves Thomas the tank engine & friends.
But i think they are gay
