Macfarlane Transport Holdings in hands of administrators

schultz:
I posted on here last week that MacFarlanes may have gone bust and the moderator, maybe rightly, removed it. Apparently Stobbarts were about to sign the dotted line and take them over when they found out Macs had mysteriously “lost” a £12 million contract. The firm thats taken it over is closely linked to them. Its dubious business practices that cost peoples jobs and bankrupts subbies. I wonder if this will get past the moderator

Whoops!! I feel a corporate edit coming on. :unamused:

If not here, certainly in the other thread.

just read eleswhere that stobarts have resuced them

mmtm today that stobarts wanted to buy them but mac’s were in too much debt.

also downtons opening a yard at gildersome and also downton taking over the fastmag is a bit spiffy.

is the downtons yard that old warehousing where mac’s used to do the mags from years ago.

it will be a matter of weeks before downtons are in mac’s yard as well.

got a pretty good idea where the yard might be, not much space in gildersome but if you come off at j27 on M62 then follow A62 towards leeds its just down there on right past motorbike place and across from caterpillar yard, i think anyway cant think of anywhere else.

downtons getting a call in morning anyway by me and a mate of mine to see what jobs might be arising, were dead at the mo at our place and cant afford to live on the basic wage, plus our yard is just round corner from gildersome and both live near so might try something new.

another mate of mine left our place to go work for mac’s bout 6 months ago, get a call every day, turns out he hasn’t been paid for last 3 weeks, normally paid on wednesday and when he wasnt paid yesterday he called them and said money better be in bank tomorrow (thursday), anyway nothing went in so returned the unit + load this afternoon and must have gone, havent spoke to him since

Just been on Calendar again, and it’s claimed 300 jobs have gone.

The place opposite CAT,was used up until recently,by Elite Processing from Leeds, who do the George clothes for Asda. It’s currently being revamped internally, from what I’ve seen.I don’t know who for though.

The yard as some of you will know, was also Sewells place, and also up until recently, housed the trailers after Pawsons went under,It’s where I took some pictures of the Pawsons trailers, and posted them on here.

Ken.

yeah thats the place i was thinking of, couldn’t remember the name though

tashlad666:
Anybody any ideas where their gildersome site is based? is it across from finning cat?[/quote
thats the one a1s old yard

might have to call in and see whats what, although with not much class 1 experience i doubt i’ll get far, try for nowt tho, and seen as its about quarter mile from where i work now and home, nothing ventured…

I was chatting to a former work mate of mine at while at tescos Fradley pk last week, who worked for McFs and he stated that he didnt get paid last week, and only recieved 1/2 his wages on monday, followed by the remainder on tuesday. he stated that he held little hope for the company staying afloat . he hasnt had much luck it seems, as he also worked for Pawsons before they went under, and moved to McF`s, and prior to that, at wincanton where we both where made redundant

tell us where he goes next so we can all avoid it.

UPDATE.

Was in at Macs today collecting 12 pallets of goods on behalf of the customer, and took the following pics.

Excuse the quality,as they were taken on my phone, but I think you get the jist.

Yard looking as normal:

Brand new trailers:

However:

Trailers,INCLUDING LONGS picking up stock,so I would guess the current rumour about Longs,is a complete phallacy,as I have seen their units and trailers a fair bit today.

These Mercs were going back to Mercedes at Wentworth, according to one of the drivers I spoke to.Note the trade plates: (And if you look carefully, you can just see my little 6 wheeler in the background. )

M62 westbound at J27.A pair of MAN’s going to wherever:

Ken.

as ive said before very sad.

I saw a Mac’s trailer being pulled by a Archbolds truck, A19 ntr Hartlepool today!

Very sad I’m afraid!

There’s a couple of Macfarlane’s trailers at Archbold’s yard as well. They’ve picked up the automotive work (effectively the ex-Sewell stuff) that was a shared client anyway.

Quinny:
UPDATE.

…a complete phallacy…

Ken.

Classic!

Stephen Cooke, the owner and director of collapsed Leeds haulage firm Macfarlane Transport Holdings, is back in business with a new company, MT can reveal. Cooke is now running a firm called Live Logistics, which trades from his property in Mewith, North Yorkshire. The firm was set up on 10 July, when Cooke was appointed director. MT was unable to contact Cooke as we went to press. Macfarlane was placed into administration on 2 July, with corporate recovery firm KPMG taking over the running of the firm. Unfortunately no buyer for the company could be found and it ceased trading with around 300 staff laid off.

Have another go Mr Cooke :unamused: :unamused:

i seen 1 parked @ ashford truckstop
