The M96 motorway is situated in Moreton-in-Marsh, Gloucestershire. It is one of the shortest motorways in Britain: it is only a mile in length. It is a private motorway owned by the British Fire Service College, which is used to teach firefighters in training how to deal with road traffic accidents. It consists of the former runways of the World War II airfield RAF Moreton-in-Marsh.

Yea, it’s behind that big wall on the left on the A44 as you head out of Moreton towards Oxford.

Yep, F&R college. I was there for an exercise back in the summer.Fantastic place, has gantries, hard shoulder, barriers. Looks like the real thing too. Theres also petrol tankers, a plane, a mahoosive power station/factory complex. really cool place. Might even have some pics somewhere if you give me a day or two to dig them out.

Thanks.

I’ve always been puzzled as to why they called it the M96, which would seem to imply that it is in Scotland. Personally, I think M44 would have been a better choice.
